Today was National Cancer Survivors Day at my hospital, and it was nuts.

I had an appointment at 11:30 for my check-ups. I'm cancer free until October, yay! I got up and out by 8, and we were in the city until 11. After check-ups, we had 5 hours to waste until the celebration. We hung out in the hospital (crappy food) and hung out in Washington Square Park. That's the one great thing about Philadelphia, so much history. WSP has The Tomb of the Unknown Solider monument, and it's cool to see.

I got to meet the other kid treated by my doctor that has the same thing I did. He was doing pretty crappy emotionally, but we told him that we knew exactly how he was feeling and that he would definitely be okay. The event was really cool, they sold tee shirts (they say "There are heroes among us, Believe in a cure" so I got one. Raffles, but I didn't win anything. ALOT of my nurses didn't recognize me. :( The last time they saw me, I was pale, bald, and in a wheelchair. Today I was pale, hairy, and walking. ;)

I don't have any pictures because I literally just got home, and I'm about to pass out. 15 hour day, and I walked about 10+ blocks. In flip flops. With a knee replacement and blisters. In 80-90 weather. I may be a drama queen but I'm a tired drama queen. ;)

Thank you Allison. Some pictures, we didn't take many. I think we're going to be on the Action 6 news for anyone in the Philly/NJ area. They were filming at the event and from a helicopter.

South or West? Philadelphia for the top floor.

My doctor, another osteo survivor, and myself. I really looked horrible, lol.

Hiding from the camera in Washington Square Park. It was HOT.

Me and my inspiration. (Yes, that is a Disney purse! I got it from Claire's a billion years ago and it's the only one I use.)

Me and the best chemo nurse ever. (: I got caught in the middle of talking/laughing. You can kind of see my port scar, on the left side of the picture. It was a device for giving me chemo, because it was so toxic it would damage my veins. It was in my subvena (I think) vein, leading to my jugular vein in my neck and to my heart. And yes, it hurt, lol. And yes, I now know how unflattering that shirt is. Oh well.

Not much, but it's something. Fun fact, that is the first hospital in the USA. It was founded in part by Benjamin Franklin.

Congrats, honey!

I can't believe how strong you are. And here I was complaining about a little back pain

Go, cancer surviviors, go! :cheer2:

Sonya you look so cute in these pictures! :P

Sounds like a fun day!
I'm in Ottawa right now and they have the tomb of the unknown soldier here too, it's there along with the war memorial.

Sounds like it was a great day! And congrats on staying cancer free!!

Awwww I'm so happy for you on being cancer freeeeeee :hug::hug::hug::hug: (x 1000)
Sounds like a really fun day! I'm not surprised the nurses didn't recognize you! You've come such a long way!
Sounds like a REALLY long but really awesome day! Must've been great to meet/hang out with people who could really relate to your experience!

I cant see your pics though :(

I can't see the pictures either :(
But that sounds like such an awesome thing! I'm glad you had fun :)

Sorry, I moved the pictures to my photobucket and the URLS got screwed.
Meg, why do you think I had to go home? Besides that flip flops aren't 15 hour day friendly, my back was ready to give out. Knee's were fine, hips were fine, back and feet were not!
