TODAY IS MY FIRST DAY OF SUMMER VACATION!!!!

Last night was DS14's 8th grade graduation. I NEVER have to drive to that school in the morning again! I NEVER have to line up at 2:30 in the afternoon for pick up again!! But I will miss seeing the parents daily, so we have decided to get together for scrapping nights over the summer :teeth:

So, I set my alarm for 8am, cause I have a painting class to teach at 10. But I can't figure out how to reset the "puppy alarm" :dogdance: The !@#$%^&* lab was thumping her tail on the floor :dogdance: yawning loudly :dogdance: and talking to me :dogdance: this morning at 6am!!Sheesh.... :dog:

Yeah for summer vacation!!!!

You have a "puppy alarm"! I thought I was the only one that had problems with an animal alarm.. We have a ":cat: alarm".. He is up at 5:30am.. every morning.. every morning!!! OMG! That darn cat is about to lose a life one of these days!!! I love him dearly..but he and DH have a routine..so poor DH can't even sleep in when he thinks he has the "day off"..

If I'm not up by 6am my :cat: alarm will let us know it. We have our routine. However she does listen to me when I tell her we are sleeping in today and she will curl back up.

My poor DH however has the :dog: alarm. I normally get up about 5am and the :dog: barely moves but if DH isn't up by 7:30 she is there banging her tail against the wall across from the bedroom door. My DH is so excited at the new house since the bedroom door is set in a little bit and if she stands right at the gate he doesn't think her tail will hit the opposite wall so hopefully he can sleep in a little bit more. LOL

Forgot to add that my poor DH does have to deal with the :cat: when I am away. She still wants to get up and she won't go back to bed for him. If he ignores her she just keeps trying her tactics until he gets up and feeds her. Then she will go back to bed and not even have touched her food. It makes him so mad. LOL

:lmao:

I finally found a way to turn off my :cat: .

She had developed a terrible habit of thinking that 5:00 was the time to be fed. She found EVERY way of waking me up. She's get onto the dresser and rattle my jewelry in its pottery bowl. Jingle, jingle. And if the noise wasn't enough, she'd flip a piece out of the bowl and slooooowly start pushing it towards the back of the dresser where it could fall into the crack and be lost for ever. Stinking smart cat that she is, she'd pause every couple of seconds to look at me, to see if I was getting up yet. I moved the jewelry into my drawer.

Then she started in on the quilt hanging on my wall. First, she'd go up on her hind legs and just rest her paws on the careful quilting my mother slaved over. Somehow, I always wake up the moment she does this. She'd look over her shoulder at me, to see if I was getting up. If not, she'd put out her claws and give the quilt one little prick, stop, and look at me again. To save the quilt I always got up. Finally, I had to take down the quilt.

With no other material items to mess with, she took to pacing up and down my body on the bed and licking my eyelids until I woke up. YUCK!

And finally, the solution. Automatic pet feeder. At 5:00 every morning there is a "click" in the kitchen and my darling fuzzy butt runs off to be fed. Then, rather than the calculating kitty working up new plans to drag me into consciousness, I now have a wonderfully snuggly, well fed kitty purring in my bed. Much better.
