Today is 4th time WDW has closed since park opening in 1971

I know on 9/11 the parks shut down, but what were the other two occasions that caused WDW to close?

Other hurricanes - Floyd and Frances (1999) and Jeanne (2004).

I believe it was Hurricane Wilma and Hurricane Floyd.

Just read a news article today that referred to previous storm closings as Hurricane Charley in 2004 and Hurricane Floyd in 1999. This wiki article mentions both the Charley and the Floyd closing also https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hurricane_Charley

Has the park never opened for the day?
I know between 9/11 and hurricanes the parks would open late or close early. But, if MK doesn't open at all tomorrow is that the first time it's ever missed a day?

2004 for Hurricane Frances. We were there for a land/sea vacay, left the resort, headed to Port Canaveral, board the Disney Wonder and sailed around the hurricane. We ended up enjoying a 5 day cruise for the price of a 3 day. Port Canaveral was damaged by Frances, so we docked at Port Everglades in FL and were bussed back to PC by Disney. I was ever so happy to find my rental van undamaged by the storm.

We skipped Castaway Cay b/c it got hit by Frances on Sept 3-4 ... instead we sailed to Cozumel.

I did read that the last time WDW closed for a full day was 1999 (hurricane Floyd). On 9/11 they closed mid day and they reopen the next morning.

We were there for Floyd in 1999. Let's hope that this one has a similar ending for folks in WDW.

I was in Orlando on a business trip when Charley hit in 2004. I believe Disney did close the day after Charley hit, but I could be mistaken. The day after was a very confusing time for us.....
