Today I got a letter in my mailbox addressed to the UK

but I live in Ohio! I just stopped the mailman today and gave it back to him. Have you ever received a letter that was addressed to someplace far, far, away from you?

Oh my! The furthest I've gotten is one across town from a street name that was similar to ours. Otherwise we've only accidentally gotten neighbors mail.

Funny thing is, the return address was from Connecticut!

When I was accepted to Cambridge University, I was unknowingly made a "Cambridge Overseas Scholar." 3 weeks before I was set to leave, I received a letter from a man in South Africa. My scholarchip info and all the documentation had been sent to him by accident! I had to fill out some paperwork and had a coronary because it was due right then. Lucklily, I kept the envelopes and such and faxed them all back so the University knew what happened. My letter went Cambridge -> London -> Cape Town, South Africa -> Chicago!

How interesting. The only misdirected mail I ever receive is for this man who has the same house number a few streets away from me.

It would be weird if the addressee had the same name or last name as you, too! Was the name even close?

The PO usually gives me someone else's mail about once every 2 weeks or so. The one that is most frequent has the street number as we do, but different street, city and zip. We also get our neighbor's mail. But NEVER far away mail. That's freaky!

P.S. Though I did see a letter from some European country to
a South American country some years ago on our mailroom floor.
No idea how it came through us!
