To Wish Aussies travelling Feb 2011 safe travels, bon voyage.

Safe and Happy travels to all.
And here's hoping the dollar doesn't plummet any more!!!

Thanks everyone! We're leaving tomorrow night! :cool1: And I'm sick :sad2:. One of my friends has been sick with a virus for the last couple of weeks and I've been telling her to stay away from me. But it looks like I've got it. It seems to be just a cold at the moment - runny/stuffed nose, cough, headache - but my chest is feeling kind of heavy today. I'm thinking about going to the After Hours GP tonight (cause I'll never get in to my dr now) and see if they will give me some antibiotics just in case.

Other then that, we're excited! Last night my 6 year old was talking about footy training next Tuesday and I said "we'll be at Disneyland next Tuesday" and he squealed! Later on he told me that he "nearly fainted" when I said that :rotfl2:

I just went to change some cash at Harvey World and their rate was 76c so I held off. I'll try again at Sydney Airport on Friday. We've got our travel cards all set but I want some cash for day one so I don't have to try to find an ATM asap.

Your son sounds SO excited, and with good reason!!! I hope your flights are good and that you have the best family holiday possible. Feel better soon.

WOOOHOOO, have the most wonderful time. I'm completely jealous and can't wait to hear all about it.

Try a bank, they usually do better than any exchange place. I've always found the fees at the airport pretty high and the fees at a currency exchange to be much higher than a bank. Last time I changed $1000AU to US I think my local Commonwealth only charged a $10 fee, and the exchange rate was better than expected.

Have a wonderful trip :)

Ehsmum, have the most precious holiday ever! I too am envious ours isn't sooner. Enjoy every moment!!!!!:cheer2:

Shushh - I'm looking forward to meeting you on Friday. I'm not sure if this is too late...but safe travels to MELBOURNE!!

Kalice - Have a GREAT time in Bali! I'll be envious thinking of you sipping cocktails by the pool!

GrazingGoat1966 and Shaz105 - Have a great and safe trip!

Remember the photos....and the food porn.

Thank You

Cant wait it has come up so quickly, we have had a few down with my husbands work and with the money situation we will have a bit of a tighter budget now but we will still have a great time. As I saw a quote on the board "You don't have to spend money to have a great trip"

i am going to start packing tomorrow is that too soon.

Grazing Goat has a wonderful trip you are leaving a day before me

Hey shaz, just wondering if you have been collecing vouchers (coupons). Last year I took a stack of them that I had printed off online and it really did end up saving quite a bit of money.

This time I have also been printing them out if I find any and already have quite a collection.

Definately worth doing, especially if you are on a budget, I reckon :thumbsup2

Aussiegirls would you mind sharing what types of coupons you are collecting? We are going to Disneyland in September and I have printed some for rainforest cafe which I found on a link on these boards but I am not sure what else I should be looking out for - if you could point me in the right direction that would be great :yay:

We're back!

Got home yesterday and the jetlag hit hard. I'm trying to unpack and do 6 weeks of washing today  but will hopefully get some time to update soon.

Highlights - Disneyland of course  (we were chosen as the family to open DCA one day and made Honorary Citizens of Disneyland!! ), NYC (absolutely amazing), WDW, Wizarding World of Harry Potter. I loved Washington DC and San Francisco, wish we had more time in both places. I am not a fan of Las Vegas, definitely won't rush back there in a hurry.

Will update more soon. Safe travels to everyone leaving soon, you will have an absolute ball!

Oh my goodness, that is SO exciting about being chosen as the family to open DCA and to be honorary citizens of Disneyland :cool1:

I can't wait to read your report, particularly NY (we will be there in 52 days  )

Have fun doing the unpack and all of the :laundy: I hate that massive pile of washing when we get home :sad2: But it's one of the side effects of travelling I suppose :rotfl:.
