I personally do not like the idea of walking, and it seems like a hassle to do so. However, I'm going to need reservations for a two bedroom and a handi-accessessible GV at OKW for Thanksgiving week 2021. There are only 3 ADA GVs at OKW....decisions, decisions...

Do you think it would require walking the reservation?

Yes, I do. Good luck!

FWIW, I don't like it, either. But modifying online is very easy. Do it mid - afternoon or early evening jus after MS closes. Not as much website demand at that time.

Yes. I think when you have something specific like you need, walking is the best option to secure it.

Good luck!

It appears no GV is available to start walking...ugh

If I check "accessible rooms only" , no HA near HH for a GV even shows up as unavailable? Or I am missing something. Are there actually GV's in that category?

There are no HA GV in the near HH category. There is one in bldg 48 and two in Bldg 63, that’s it for HA GVs at OKW

Ah, I read your OP wrong then. But still there is an HA GV showing available from Oct 10-15th.

My apologies if I'm hijacking, but I'm curious - does anyone start walking a specific number of weeks out? We're planning for a week in December 2021 at a BWV GV, and I'm a bit nervous (but I also feel like now is a little too early to start?)

Maybe 5 to 6 weeks out, given the holiday season starts at Thanksgiving and is a very busy time until after new years. All of December is busy, early December because of lower points and Christmas for the Holidays. Plus people wanting to use banked 2020 Points from COVID concerns. I banked all my June 2020 points to be able to have enough for a GV and a 2 bedroom.

I don't think it's too early at all for the BWV gv's. I haven't booked one in a few years but last time I did I started close to two months out. You need to start walking way before Thanksgiving because you'll have to walk over it and that is prime GV time.

I haven't walked at those resorts, but have walked elsewhere ... if you're walking for Christmas and you can't find an available villa to start your walk yet, don't despair! Some people are walking for early December, so rooms *do* open up. Good luck!

Haha!! I had the same thought. How early is too early?? I’ve never walked before either (same feelings as OP), but I’ve got a family trip requiring a 2-bed LO, standard view at... the Riviera. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Fighting against the SV studio seekers will be my biggest challenge. We plan to go the beginning of Feb of 2022. I know people walk for Thanksgiving, then Christmas, then marathon weekend (even if it may not actually happen this year)... but can I wait until after all of that to start? Thoughts/advice??

I’ll also be trying to book a GV at Jambo House for the last several nights of our stay... but I don’t see that one being as hard to get.

I got bit hard by not walking for my 50th reservation (10/1), so I’m finally ready to jump in and try (though I’m hoping I don’t need to do it often!).

I have been walking my BWV GV since Late AUG. And because you never know when the site will go down I always modify 2 or 3 days before check-out. I never modify on my last day. If something goes wrong on that last day I could lose it all.

I resigned myself to walking BWV Standard Studios (for our son & his girlfriend). Since August, I've been pushing the reservation, & still have only been able to pick up what walkers who started earlier have dropped.

What is a bit frustrating is the guy on a FB group advertising that he is walking multiple "high demand" SV Studios for rent, at per night rates. According to him, that way "people can compare to Disney rates". Less savvy renters don't realize that SV is in demand simply because they cost fewer points, & his reservations actually cost about $24.50 plus per point - they could get a better view for less money just by using the point charts.

Same here. Been walking for a couple months already for our November 2021 trip. I don’t enjoy walking, but have lots of 2020 points to use up so am planning a large family trip involving multiple in-demand “Boardwalk view” rooms. I’ve been walking every 4-5 days to be safe and will be glad when it’s done!

I would have asked what your arrival day was? If early in the week like Sun or Mon I'd have guessed you'd probably be ok. And really wouldn't have worried about starting a walk for another month. But that's just me - too much concern over walking IMO.
