To use a baby carrier?

Hi!
Taking 2 older kids, dh, and a 17mo next year. Planning to use baby carrier (now have a moby wrap) and rent a stroller if/when we find a need. Any recommendations on a baby carrier to take? We prefer no buckles/etc. to pinch baby.
Thanks!

I would recommend the Ergo, but it does have buckles. I've used it for a long time though (my son is now 21 months old) and we've never had a problem with him being pinched...it's really a non-issue. There is one big waist buckle that you snap before you put the baby in, and there is a safety buckle that connects the straps on the opposite side of you that the baby sits. It's wonderful. I used it for a whole week at Disney when my son was 12 months old and we were both very comfy.

My son is almost 30 pounds, can we still use a carrier? We only have a hip hammock left. He is walking, but very wiggly when we try to hold him. So, it would help in lines. Didn't know if it would kill my back!

My favorite carriers are the Beco Butterfly 2, Babyhawk (they are now coming out with one that buckles, called the Oh Snap!), or the Ergo.

Avoid anything you can buy at Babies R Us, like the Bjorn and the Snuggly. They are horrible for the child's spine and hips, as well as for you.

I took a Patapum Toddler for my daughter last year. She was almost three and over 30 lbs. It was comfortable enough. I mostly used it for walking around the AK trails and when she was overwhelmed at the end of the day.

Depends on what you're using at home at that age. Maybe still the Moby? I was using a Mei Tai at that age. I had made it myself then made pads for the straps (so I recommend padded, like the BabyHawk) There are some hybrid MTs that have a buckle waist for you (which is really supportive) but wrap ties around the little one. The advantage there is it's a bit faster to do on and maybe more supportive. The advantage to a traditional MT or wrap without buckles or clips is that you can wear it through airport security... that's where I most needed my hands free!

Well I definitely prefer buckles, so we use the Ergo a lot (we've had it for over 2 years and have never had a baby get pinched), but a Moby would probably work at that age, too, I just think they take longer and I really like the Ergo pockets. ;)
