To upgrade or not!

We are booked in the Santa Fe Hotel on the 19th December for 4N/5D. We are thinking of upgrading to the Newport Bay Hotel Admirals Floor.

What would you suggest?

I think it depends how much extra it will be. Santa Fe is adequate if you are on a budget, you still get EMH and it is still walkable to the parks especially if you are close to the river on the Sequioa Lodge side.

However, after our stay in December we said that whilst we had no major issues with it we just didnt like it, we avoided the main part of the hotel and in the future said we would pay for something a little extra. We are staying in the SL.

I love the Santa Fe (don't go for breakfast there later than 7.30am though). I've stayed at the NBC once, and I personally wouldn't upgrade to stay there again. I'd upgrade to the Sequoia Lodge (newly refurbished, and very cosy, a lovely theme for a winter trip).

Have you looked at review of npb on trip advisor? I stayed there once and can honestly say I would not stay there again FOR FREE. So no, I wouldnt upgrade

I feel the same way about Santa Fe. I have stayed there once and will never do it again.

OP: Why Newport AF??? Did you find a good deal? I have only stayed there once, 10 years ago and I remember it as a nice hotel but that could have changed over the years. If I had booked Santa Fe, I would upgrade to anything, since that hotel isn't for me at all.

Thats how I feel, for a bargain Id upgrade anywhere however Newport Bay doesnt appeal to me at all. Isnt SL a lower class hotel yet Id much prefer to stay there. One of the major drawbacks for us is the fish theme, my OH hates fish and the smell of it! Id be tempted to go in summer if I could use the outside pool.

I have to say, I honestly really love NPB. We stayed there back in July 2009 and I loved it. Going back in September and really starting to worry that it won't be as good... especially since I'm taking new people.

I've never stayed at sequoia but been there for a meal and my first thought was this would the PERFECT place to stay at Christmas time. It's so lovely and cosy feeling. Why don't you try that?

We've got a bit of extra money thats why we want to upgrade. We have stayed in both the Sequoia and the NPB and liked both and thought the Admirals floor would be a bit of luxury!

Think i'll have another think and look at the Sequoia

We went from a normal room to an admirals floor on our last trip and there was zero difference in the room so don't think it's luxury!
