To Those Who Have Read Kingdom Keepers

I finally got around to picking up DS's copy and reading it. I am at about the half way point, after the Small World "incident". That ride always kind of freaked me out for some reason and now I have a feeling it's going to be very freaky.

Are there more "incidents" like that in the book and are there any rides/attractions that you can't go on/in anymore? Do you look at the park in a different way?

We're going in August and I already feel kind of creepy. LOL

There are other "incidents" but I don't know if they are exactly the same as the one in IASW. We don't look at WDW any differently, except that we did want to look for the secret passage in the wall of the castle . I would not let a small child read the books for the very reason you described, though. The Magic of Disney should be good and fun, not scary (except the mild scare from some of the "evil" characters).

I haven't read it but my dd is for her summer reading assignment. She is really enjoying the story and isn't freaked out at all, in fact its making her want to go back and ride all the rides over again.

I've read them both and actually liked the second book better. It focused on the Animal Kingdom and getting to read about the behind-the-scenes stuff is cool. Also, there are places/ areas in both books that I never really took the time to notice before but looked for after I read the books.

DS has the second one too and I plan to read to that right after this one.

I don't mean that I'm scared to go or anything. But it's just freaky to think about something like that going on. Some of those animatronics are so life like that I think if one moves when I'm expecting it, I just might jump. LOL

She is almost 10 and is able to read it but can you tell me if it will be too scary and also if it gives any magic away? She still "believes" but is beginning to doubt some things I think. I hope to try and read it but thought maybe someone on here could give me a heads-up!

About a Month after I read the book, I had a Dsiney trip planned....and took pictures and saw ALL the "places" in the book. The fire Station/IASW/TMRR/and POTC..I can actully SEE where the Secret passage is that they "referred to" in the book.

The second book is Kingdom Keepers II. I finished the first one pretty quick and moved right into 2 which was also done fast. They are good reads for anyone but especially for Disney fans.

I wouldn't say it gives away any magic some characters "come" to life so it would probably reinforce the magic a little. It wasn't so much scary as freaky and I'm an adult. I don't want to ruin the book for you so I don't want to get into specifics. I don't think it's anything that'll give nightmares but I guess it depends on her fears. My DS can't stand witches and since Malificent is a big part of the book, he just didn't want anything to do with it. I'm sure someday he'll be ready for it.

The second book is The Kingdom Keepers II- Disney at Dawn.

My DD read both KK books last year when she was almost 10. She enjoyed both of them very much- none of the magic of WDW was ruined for her. If anything, the animatronic characters coming to life when the park was closed made WDW seem even more magical to her.

DD gives both books a big .

I read both 1 and 2 and really enjoyed them. I am a big Maleficent fan so, these were right up my alley.

My son, who is 12 today , read the first one and is reading the second one now. He loves them! He laughs like crazy anytime we talk about the IASW scene.

I thought they say something about the PERSON who plays tinkerbell??? I havent read them in a while and I didnt let my 8 yr old believer read them. I just can not at this moment remember why.
