To those in the UK can I just ask how much you are paying for flights please?

Just shopping around for us for next June and the best deal I think I've found is with Air France (are they any good!?)

2 adults 2 children
Flying from Manchester 9:30 arriving 12:00
Departing from Paris 13:10 (later flights than this were double the cost) arriving manchester 13:40

Inc 23kg baggage for each person as standard = £433 total

I have priced up Jet2 and they work out £20 more in total with later flights both going out and returning.

The only slight issue I have is would we be ok for getting the flight back at 13:10? Or would we be rushing. Not sure how long it takes to get between resort and airport inc check in. But returning any later with air France and the flight is so expensive.

We are going for 4 nights/5 days

Are there any others airlines apart from fly be and air France (seem to be linked) and jet2?

Thanks :)

You'd have to be there at CDG at least 90 mins before your flight. I fly with Jet2 and you can get very long queues at T3. There are no bag check only desks like in the UK so even if you have checked in on line and got your boarding pass you will have to queue.

From Man to CDG you've also got Easy Jet that you can look at :)

we did air france from man year and must say here in uk was fine but sooo busy in Paris... did you think to fly air france one way and then back on jet2 on the later flight?

just to add we did jet2 to lanzarote from man and was fine no problems...

Thank you

I've just looked at easy jet and it doesn't list Paris as an option at all from Manchester :( (unless I am being dumb)

That's a fab suggestion I hadn't thought of that at all! I don't think easy jet go from man to Paris but will look at combination of jet2 and air France
Can't you tell I'm only used to booking normal package hols lol

Do you need the full baggage allowance per person? We do 4 nights/5 days at DLP with hand luggage only, so you could manage with one hold case and then hand luggage between you I'd have thought. That might cut the price for the Jet2 flights (or do they all include baggage)? Can you get a flybe price? Air France and flybe codeshare (ie same flight for both companies) and with flybe you can choose how many hold bags you want to pay for.

I don't know if I'm doing something wrong but just priced up coming back with jet 2 - £260 one way for us all
Then looked at outbound from Manchester one way to Paris with air france and it was about £1200! It's as if the system or airline don't like you doing single trips!? But can't see if/where I'm going wrong :(

With air France it gives you 23kg each as standard without paying extra for it and no option to remove and pay less.
With jet2 I just opted to add 2 bags which didn't work out much maybe £24 so wouldn't make a huge difference.
Looked at flyby but flight times weren't great I don't think.

My ideal would be to go out with air France on a morning flight and come back with jet 2 in the evening but the air France website is quoting me a silly price for one way :(

Think I've figured it out - with air France it will only let me book premium economy outbound one way only but if I book a return with them as we'll then I can travel economy and its cheaper - anyone know why they do this?

did you try to look for this flight at expedia? or other website maybe they will let you book cheaper flight on the way out...

You will find one flight trips tend to be very expensive so probably not an option - your quote for different operators each way was right ;). Simple, they do it to encourage you to book a return flight :).

I don't think £433 is a bad price with baggage for you all - Air France is not a cheap airline really. But I'm with Elaine (I never travel light lol) and last trip which was 5 nights, 6 days, we only took two 20kg suitcases and managed fine (4 of us) - that included all our clothes plus extras like 2 or 3 dress up dresses for each of the girls. We all had a hand bag each though - rucksack, as well.

ETA - I would personally try and go for a later flight home if you can afford it - you are going to pretty much be leaving almost after breakfast if you go for the earlier flight - it's a day lost really.

Does it have to be from Manchester? We live in Manchester but fly with easy jet from Liverpool to CDG we got tickets for the 4of us inc 2lots of baggage for stopping £220.

Just checked easy jet from Liverpool and the only flight time is tea time going out there so no good :(

Yes they only do 1 flight a day. We prefer to fly then with having young kids it's nice to get there have tea a bit of a shop and a good sleep ready for an early morning. Oh I'm getting excited already!

Just been on Expedia and found the original flights I wanted - outbound with air France in the morning and returning tea time with jet 2 but at a total cost of £532 - ouch! :(

Have you thought about the Eurostar? I know it goes from London but I would think the trains from Manchester to London are pretty fast and then the Eurostar itself is a doddle and so fast, and only £69 each return.

Just a thought, that's what I'd prefer to do as I like the train a lot more than flying

:)

I did price the Eurostar up yesterday and with the connection trains to London is was dear than flying plus would take longer, thanks though.

I think I've only got two options re the flights - go early morning and come back 1pm or go out at midday (so only 3 hrs later than planned) and come back at tea time (5pm flight back)

Do you think it's more important to have the extra time there on the last day as opposed to the first?

If I wanted perfect flight times then its going to cost £200 more than the above options so a no go really.

We looked at Eurostar this year and was quoted £298 for the two of us! :-S ended up booking Easyjet (from Luton to CDG) for £140 inc taxes!

This is with the outbound flight leaving here at 8.10 and the inbound flight at 23.00 giving us a further day at the park! :-D

Nice and handy as the airport is on our doorstep, so no fuss about getting to St Pancras!

I recon it's best to get the midday flight out. You'll be tired and excited that day from the travelling and it means your room will be ready when you get there.

Also means you can have a nice morning and lunch on your last day. X

thank you for your reply, I am leaning more towards that option too :)
will be good to not have to get up and out to the airport at the crack of dawn too.
I think there might have been an even later flight home - around 8pm ish from Paris but i thought this might be too late with having to check out of the hotel around lunch time? or would it best to do that and just spend some extra time at the park (assuming we get a park pass for the last day?)
