I have been doing some route planning, and noticed that both my GPS and Google Maps say to go to Queenston Lewiston bridge for the border crossing. This gets you into the US in a shorter distance, but it is NOT faster by any means.. Between the long lines at the border, and the extra long route you take around the lake.. it can add 1.5 t0 2 hours to your trip.

The best bet is to take the Peace Bridge in Ft. Erie.. smaller lines, and and no round about route..

Just keep on the 420 till you hit the border after teh Q/L exit...

Thanks for this info :thumbsup2

I will be driving to Buffalo airport in September and have a mid-morning flight, so want to get through the border as quick as possible.

Our GPS always tell us the same thing. We ignore it too.

Having driven all 3 routes many times over the years, the best route is Fort Erie. No waits ever at this bridge.
I have waited 2 hours at the Lewiston Bridge one too many times. Never again will I go over that way. However, I do come back this bridge so I can do shopping along this route.:goodvibes

We've also found that the guards at the Lewiston bridge can be a little less "nice" than those at Fort Erie so we always use the Peace Bridge. We've had our car searched by dogs and all of our luggage opened at the Lewiston bridge.

Ive never really had a problem at the Queenston Lewiston Bridge. We usually cross there, but always call that number for border wait times that you see on the QEW around Jordan Station. The wait times are pretty accurate. For us though, we usually leave earlier than we need to, get some stuff at Target before we go.
We have never been searched or dogged. We always have all our reservation and flight info ready to prove we are going where we say we are.
