To the CA locals-would this be worth it?

I've been given the opportunity to go to my cousin's wedding on 7/8. It's in Studio City which from what I can figure out is about 1 hour away from DL. Would it be worth it to rent a car for a day and take DD on Sat 7/9? That would be our only free day because we're leaving on 7/10. Am I crazy? Will it be super crowded? What about the weather? Thanks to anyone who can offer some advise.

Yes it'll be crowded and probably hot (though not as hot as WDW would be and not as humid either). It will be less crowded than the next weekend would be. As for the weather, hard to tell exactly what the temp will be and what feels really hot or cold to us here in CA might not feel so extreme to people from other areas because it gets colder or so much more humid.

Yeah, it'll probably be on the hot side and very crowded, but I'd go! Hey, I've done weekend summer daytrips and I live in Studio City! I guess it depends on your style and hopes and expectations about the trip. If you need the park near-empty to have a good time, definitely skip it. If you need to go commando and hit every ride, it's probably not the time for you. If you just want to suck up some Disney magic and do what you can when you can, it could be a great time! I'd make some PSs for relaxed meals to get a time out from the crowds, and just go with the flow!

I am the wrong person to ask, any day at DL is better than nothing . Go and get there early, touring before 11, even on really busy days, is not so bad. I think so many people are going on the 17th that you might have lighter than normal crowds. Use FP and have a plan.

Count me in with the GO!!!! Crowd. We live in Escondido (1 1/2 hours one way to drive) and my DH and I (and our puppy) make day trips out of it at least once or twice a month! Clydas (our 8 month old boxer pup) is a "frequent flier" at the Kennel up there.
