To slipcover or not to slipcover.......

Are slipcovers tacky? My gut tells me yes but I have been reading about them and they say they have greatly improved over the years. I love my family room sofa and chairs but the color was too light and they show too much dirt.

I was right there with you, our couches/loveseat used to be a lovely of whites, one kid, three dogs and countless parties later, not so much! We have pillow back couches so trying to find slip covers was really difficult since most are one piece. Then I found Surefit and they are great! They have three piece, t-cushion sets in a bunch of colors. I bought a couch, love seat and recliner slipcover for less than $400. The material is stretchy and machine washable and after a month has not lost it shape.

I bought the couch and loveseat in a light coffee and the recliner in a rich red and they look great. Later I found a large ottoman cover for our room from Overstock and it ended up also being a Surefit for half the price!

I would suggest going to the Surefit site to look around and then go to Overstock and se eif you can find them cheaper there. Good luck, they have made a world of difference for our old couches.

I know this won't help you OP, but I wanted to toss in my experience. I just bought a cotton twill slipcovered sofa from Bassett furniture (same basic one as Pottery Barn, similar price etc). I love it!!! The kids spill stuff, and I zip off the cushions, throw them in the washing machine, dry them on "low heat" in the dryer, zip them back on, good as new!!

What a relief! When you said slipcovers, I was thinking those hideous tacky plastic ones from the 60s/70s were making a comeback!

I have 2 different surefit ones. They look nice for about 5 minutes until they start getting all scrunched up and coming off.
they are 2 different styles too.
I dislike these slipcovers. We are getting a new couch
