To rodeo or not to rodeo?

Planning events for our July trip. Has anyone done the Kissimmee Rodeo? We read about it in the Brit's Guide 2005 and it sounds quite good but wanted to hear from anyone who has actually been.

Cheers

hi trish, have had mixed views about it, my dad is mad on cowboys so we are doing it at end of may, not sure i like the idea of it, roping calves etc as I am a lilly livered veggie! :guilty: but will let you know how it goes when we get back! :earsgirl:

Thanks Claire - I look forward to hearing how it goes. I'm not a veggie but not particularly into animal cruelty either I have to say!! I'll wait and hear what you think of it!

We have been a couple of times and really enjoyed it. It is not something put on for tourists and is usually full of locals with just a few tourists. We are hoping to go back this year.

We went when we were over there 3 weeks ago and the tourists (mainly English) vastly outnumbered the locals!

It's worth going to see if you fancy doing something different from the usual Orlando entertainment. When we were there we saw bull riding (or bull falling-off to be more exact!), team roping, barrel racing and the calf scramble where kids under 10 can enter the arena to try to grab ribbons attached to the tails of calves.

See www.ksarodeo.com for more details.
