I'm not sure if this forum is more appropriate or the resorts forum...so move it away if needed.

My family of 5 (2 adults, 3 kids) currently has annual passes that are expiring June 30th. I know....I know...it's tragic. It's a day you feel will never come and the *BAM* you get the dreaded "renew now" letter in the mailbox!

With the release of MYW, is there a new break even point? Is anyone else renewing APs? It almost seems better now to do MYW, especially because you can add dining with MYW so reasonably. We usually stay deluxe and stay for 7-8 days. (and then Mom tries to get there one more short weekend with any living family member who will go)

I'm thinking we might just hold off and do MYW from now on. Am I crazy?

I feel really nervous letting the APs expire! The room discounts are nice, but those aren't guaranteed.

Thoughts??? :confused3

Do you get a cheaper renewal rate than if you just were buying AP's for the first time? If so, that would be an additional factor to consider...

I have APs and always let them expire since I usually get one last trip in before they do expire. Why renew if you aren't going right away? An example we got ours one year in April went April, sept, Jan, and April then they expired, since we weren't going again til Sept we didn't renew. Sure we would have saved $25 by renewing but we would have lost 4 months of use. Don't fret just let them expire and on your next trip weigh which is a better value. Another thing to do is make sure you can get the AP discount on the room before buying them since they don't ask for the AP number when making the reservation, just make sure you have them before you check in. When ordering the DDE card they do.

:flower: Thanks for making me feel better about giving up my APs. I think I've talked myself into the "wait and see" approach. Yes, we get a discount now for renewing, but it isn't significant enough for me to chuck up my money now. I think I will hold off until we know for sure our plans for next year (how many trips we will try to squeeze in ;) ) and then, of course, weigh the costs side by side.

We ordered the DDE card for our upcoming May trip and it won't expire until May 2006! That's nice, even though my AP will be long gone.

I bought my AP's last June, we went for 9 days, then in Oct for 7 days, and back again for 11 days, I am going to let mine expire until my next trip. My next trip we not be right away--so why let the money go to waste??

I had to let mine expire..I didn't have the $$$ to renew it right now.

BTW...they only give you a $35 savings by renewing it by the due date. I wish they had E-Z pay or something. Sure would make it easier than coming up with $300 in one lump sum. :sad2:
