To purchase onboard credits or not?

Sorry for the confusion. I was quoting your comment, in regards to the situation of the previous poster. LOL. You said you've never had charges from a gift card refunded to a credit card, so I was suggesting that the other person, if they can't get it refunded to a credit card (in line with your experience), they might instead be able to get a new gift card issued by Disney. So I was quoting your post, but talking to GoofyD.
Yeah, that is what I am trying to get them to do now. I had to complete a form to request a new gift card and it will go to a review. They told me to wait three weeks for a decision.

I put $400 in onboard credit just to give us a decent head start on ship. It should cover most of our Palo, Remy and Bibbity reservations so we don't have a huge bill at the end, and even if one of those were to cancel I am sure we'll find a way to spend $400 onboard. Truly, I'm guessing with mixology classes and everything we'll probably be spending at least $75-100 per day on board. We'll still have to pay for drinks/souvenirs/etc but at least we'll have that chunk taken care of. I want to minimize the post-cruise costs! It's way easier to cough up the dough in anticipation of a good time!
