I am a busy mom of three, and I work part time in the medical field (wearin' scrubs!). I am going to a wedding. Bought a cute dress (its purple) and please tell me, am I allowed to wear pantyhose? Do I wear something else? Nothing? (not loving that idea as my legs are ghostly white. Lol). Please fashionistas help me out!!!

This was talked about a few weeks ago, and it was determined that pantyhose are out. Bare legs are in. :)

Pantyhose are so uncomfortable you could not pay me to wear em. I think it is fine to go without them if you want. I don't really see them much anymore. If you like em and they make you feel better, than I am sure it is fine to go ahead and wear them. Just don't wear hose with open toe shoes.

Jergens makes a nice tinted lotion to make them look a little bit tanner, without going overboard. Perhaps someone else can recommend another option?

I encountered this issue in February for a wedding. The general thought is hose are out, a total fashion no-no.
With that said, it was the dead of winter and there was no way my legs were going naked. My shoes were a peep toe so I spent a few extra bucks and bought some really good sheer hose that have the toes exposed. I found these little gems at Dillards.
My DD 12, the fashionista even declared that they didn't look like hose, my legs looked fine and I could proceed to the event.

Another option would be either a leg bronzer or to go get a spray tan

If you feel more comfertable with panty hose than wear them. Personaly I hate panty hose and do whatever it takes to avoid them. Also I agree, please don't wear them with open toe shoes.

Sally Hanson used to make panty hose in a can, not sure if they still do or if it worked but maybe you might want to check.

I hate pantyhose and will not wear them.

Not really related to your problem, but I hate tights, too but wear them because they are fashionable. If you have peep toes tights will still work, but pantyhose won't.

I don't see any reason why you can't wear them if it makes you more comfortable. Personally, I hate them and am so glad that it is now OK to go bare-legged. I haven't owned a pair in over 15 years!

I can't wear shoes without some sort of hose so I would go with pantyhose. I know that most people feel that they are out but I grew up where women always worre hose.

I am not a big fan of them. However I am a big fan of dresses and wear a dress nearly every day. I live in Florida it's hot, they frown if I wear shorts to work. However in the dead of winter (those few weeks in Jan or Feb, when the temp stays below 50 degrees for several days :lmao:) I will wear tights with certain skirts. But overall I just feel like they are hot and bothersome.

OH! and even though I live in Florida, I am the epitome of what you think of when you think of a redhead. Red hair, freckles and PALE skin, so I always have white legs. It stinks but it is what it is. I would rather have white legs than torture myself hoping to get a tan, I am never going to get. Saying that, to give my legs a little color, I love the stuff at Victoria Secret. It does not have nauseous odor that I find most of the "fake tan" stuff has and it is very gradual.

If pantyhose make your legs look better in a dressy dress, wear them. No one is going to saw "ewww, she's wearing pantyhose". They're going to say "look at those nice legs".

I think that if you want to wear them, then do it. Whatever makes you feel your best. I wear them in the winter with skirts still.

Personally, unless your legs are tanned and polished wear some sort of hose.Nothing looks worse than bare skin with all its imperfections. I know pantyhose are out but really I went to a wedding recently where the mother of the bride wore no stockings and frankly all I could think of was dried up chicken legs. Sorry. Just like strapless (don't get me started on that one) unless one has the body for it don't wear it. No one wants to see it.

OT That goes for guys without shirts too. My pet peeve is this really fat hairy guys walking around with no shirt. WTH way to gross me out. There ought to be a law!:rotfl:

OP, if it helps I just read a blurb in a magazine at the doctor's office that said that Princess Kate wears pantyhose & she's bringing them back into fashion. I say if you want to wear them, go ahead & tell anybody who asks you're on the cutting edge of fashion w/ royalty.

I rarely wear dresses but if I did, I would have pantyhose on. No way I am going out bare with my white fat legs.

I was also going to mention that Kate wore pantyhose on her Canadian tour and she has great legs.

The last affair I went to I bought very sheer, toeless pantyhose (I was wearing strappy sandals). I don't feel comfortable with bare legs when I'm dressed up, and the pantyhose help hold in other things ;)
