Okay. There is a boy at my school *John. That is one of my best friends. I don't know anyone at our school who has a problem with him. Im saying that because he is gay. He is probably one of the most liked person in my town. He's from Cali. and hes got that beachy look to him. Hes an american eagle model also. Im just filling you in about him. Well theres this girl *Kate that seriously thinks she is the most "perfect" person ever! She's always saying how she is the best Christian out there. Well Kate and John were friends at one point. But when he opened up to everyone she kinda drifted off from him. Well the other day in Amer. History she wanted to open her mouth and tell John that he is going to Hell because hes gay and God hates gay people. Well. there was alot of people that had something to say about that. To me she had absolutely no reason to judge someone when herself has used the lord name in vain, had per-marital sex, and received a purity ring at church the next Sunday. Need I say more. This really opened my eyes and saw how cruel someone could be. I mean to sit there and watch her say that! Believe me I had something to say about that to her face and so did practically everyone else.

Nobody remembers that God forgives. We had a vocab word excommunication and that is when you are pretty much banned from the Church but nobody ever remembers that God always forgives.

Question: Why is it all right to stone someone for being gay...? God encourages it in one instance in the Bible, yet, in another story he says "He who has not sinned throw the first stone..." or something... Which pretty much forbids them from taking justice into their own hands. Contradicting, much?

I went to a Catholic school, FYI, against my will. I own the Bible, why? My school required it for Bible studies. I knew more about the dang thing than the students who were actually Catholic!

The Bible said so many other things that we think of as so stupid today- things about slaves, and there is also sexist stuff in the bible. We just think welll those were old times, times have changed. That's what we need to ghink about what God said about homosexuality.

I'm an oddball when it comes to religion, so I'm not touching that part of it, but I will say to each his own. Because no matter what you believe, it's part of what makes you who you are. I just choose to not associate with people who annoy me. If I hang around them too long, it leads to problems. I subscribe to "live and let live" when it comes to matters of opinion.

In Genesis 19 When the lord destorys Sodom and Gomorrah is about the sinful city and homosexuality. I personally have nothing against homesexuals, but that's just what the Bible says about it.

Well, I know homosexuals. And while they are nice people the bible does say it is wrong.

While we're not to judge people as other Christians I believe what the girl did was wrong too. I don't tell people they're going to hell. I don't know they're going to hell. They may repent and be saved. I don't know. And i'm not the one to judge them anyways. Their judgement day will come.

For anyone wondering here are two verses about what the bible says about homosexuality;

" ' You must not have sexual relations with a man as you would a woman. That is a hated sin. ' " Leviticus 18:22

" ' A man might have sexual relations with another man as a man does with a woman. Ife he does, these two men have done a hated sin. They must be put to death. They have brought it on themselves.' " Leviticus

Leviticus is full of the rules that most religions don't follow still today.

I'm pretty religious. I'm a Christian. I'm not afraid to admit it. If you have any questions for me... i'll try to answer them. I'm not saying I know all the answers but I can probably find out.

Totally agree. The bible has been re-writtern by hand so many times before it was printed, the meaning have changed a lot. Each monk changed it if it didnt flow right and therefore its meaning. The bible was constructed from different peoples thoughts on God. You don't have to blindly follow all of them.

I am not a christian, i do not believe in religion. I do however believe in spirituality and that there is something out there. Call me agnostic.

I come from a town where the dean of our Abbey is a married gay man who is celebate. I think it is a great thing. He is the only preacher i have ever spoken to who has made a real impact on me, his way of interpreting religion is the only way i could ever see myself being christian.

I have oftern thought about becoming a christian, but i just don't believe in the 'rules', and i have always felt judged in my beliefs. I agree, love is the answer, turn the other cheek, do unto others and you would unto yourself. I dont agree with some of the others, that made sense at the time, but are to me no longer relevent.

Just my 2 cents, plus that girl should never tell anyone they are going to hell. She is not the one to judge or to lead him to redeption, thats Gods job. I have had people pray for my soul, but to be honest i look at them and think in so many ways it is cleaner than theres.

Not really. Technically the bible was written by God. These guys didn't just sit down and go "hey. I'm gonna write this book and hope it gets put into that thing that's gonna get really popular and be called the bible."

You have to remember that in the time the bible was written God spoke directly to people. He made miracles happen before people's eyes. In the present time, God doesn't directly interfere. You have to see God through other people. If you're waiting for a miracle you can see... it's not going to happen.

EDIT:
I forgot to mention that while the bible techncially WAS written by God... a poster above me is right. The interpretations and wording has changed over the years and the meaning isn't as pure as it was years ago.

But anyways, in these days God told these men to write these books, rules, songs and letters through direct interference. You have to remember that some of the bible are just letters people wrote to other people back in the day. It's not all rules and stories.
