Attention Food-Rangers, reviews of dining with pics ahead! Our Toy Story loving family dined at Disney for free from May 27 to June 5th! We will be using the "U.F.O." dining scale for our reviews.

U. = Unforgettable! We will be making our ressies again next time we go!
F. = Forgettable, but good. We enjoyed it but we aren't running back for it.
O. = Only if it were the last food in the galaxy! Substantial problems here!

Before the reports begin let me introduce you to our cast:

I will be Hamm. I am as sarcastic as they come but I do have a soft spot for any food shaped like a mickey head!

DH will be Woody. Truly a kid at heart but he has a hard time venturing out from anything but steak and potatoes!

DS will be know as Wheezy. He takes after my sarcastic personality and enjoys trying new foods!

DD will be Jessie. She's all princess but not afraid to let her "tomboy" out!

grandma and grandpa, from hereout to be known as the little green men. They vacationed during the same time frame but didn't always eat with us.

So where will we be exploring, fellow rangers? Our records indicate we went to the following:

May 26 - All Star Movies food court (2 meals)
May 27 - POFQ food court and Tutto Italia
May 28 - Main Street Bakery and Liberty Tree Tavern
May 29- 50's Prime Time and POFQ food court
May 30 - Cosmic Rays and Ohanas
May 31 - Teppan Edo and Wolfgang Pucks
June 1 - Rose and Crown and Earl of Sandwich
June 2 - POFQ food court and Cinderella's Royal Table
June 3 - La Cantina and Cape May Cafe Clambake
June 4 - Sunshine Seasons and Coral Reef
June 5 - Cosmic Rays and Wolfgang Pucks

Also included in our reviews: A special section on snacks and breakfasts!

Ready?

Star Command: we are "go" for dining review launch!

Okay, so our package for free dining at POFQ didn't start till May 27th but the airfare that day was horrid! It was actually cheaper for us to fly out on the morning of the 26th and stay at a value for a night. We chose ASMO since we've never been there before and we chose to spend the day there since we only had a day for the resort. We ate lunch and dinner at ASMO food court. We weren't expecting much but we were pleasantly surprised!

Lunch:

Hamm, Wheezy, and Woody all chose the same thing. Cheesesteak and fries! Much to my pleasure they made the cheesesteak meat/mix fresh when you ordered it and gave you the option of having the onions and green peppers added or left out. We all chose to have the onions and green peppers added. Took about 5 minutes to make fresh but it was well worth the wait! There was a toppings bar to add tomato, onion, lettuce to your sandwich if you chose to do so. As you can see below, we all chose to add different toppings! Those sandwiches were stuffed with meat! Completely overflowing with meat! I couldn't finish mine but Wheezy and Woody stuffed the whole thing down.

Jessie opted to get spaghetti. She had pudding on the side and a breadstick. Unfortunately she's a bit picky and wouldn't eat any of it because she found a tomato chunk in the sauce. She is used to the canned kind with no "chunks". It looked really good to me. Woody tried the breadstick and said it was good.

Since we were paying OOP we decided to skip dessert and use our brand new mugs that we bought for the trip.

On the U.F.O. scale we give this meal a "U." for Unforgettable! We would happily run back to eat our overstuffed sandwiches! Even though Jessie wouldn't eat the spaghetti due to tomato chunks we thought it looked good. It was a great meal to start our trip with!

Still on day 1 and after swimming and digesting our super huge cheesesteak sandwiches we decided to head back to the food court for dinner! Having had a pretty heavy lunch I decided to get the "make your own salad". I am so glad I did! They had so many topping choices I was in heaven. They had the usual--cucumbers, carrots, tomato, onion...But they also had some unusual additions to put on your salad-mandarin oranges, dehydrated cranberries, corn, garbanzo beans, corn, green olives... I chose to add everything but bacon. I'm not much on bacon. Then they asked my dressing choice, ranch of course. Here's the neat part--They put EVERYTHING I asked for into a giant silver bowl and tossed it alltogether so the whole salad was evenly mixed and coated with the salad dressing. Then they poured your salad into your "to go" container. My salad was so big they had to pack it in! you could add chicken or salmon to the top if you chose, but I went straight vegetables. I LOVED this salad. The pic really can't do it justice. It was HUGE and I had a hard time finishing it.

IMG_2430.jpg

Woody chose a dinner with half chicken, potatoes, macaroni, and roll. He said the chicken was juicy and the sides were good. He didn't complain and he licked the plate clean!
IMG_2429.jpg

Wheezy chose to eat a meatball sandwich with chips. The meatballs were huge on the sandwich! They put provolone cheese over the sandwich and then freshly toasted it to melt the cheese over the sandwich. He loved the sandwich. You can see how big the meatballs are in the 2nd picture. The chips were not the best. They were the thick kind that takes a LOT of effort to chew and can often poke your cheeks/tongue and hurt when you eat them. They are thick and hard! We prefer the good old fashioned kind you get from Lays!

Jessie had nuggets and fries but I lost the pic of it. I'll try to find it to post later. Nothing special. She hardly touched them.

Overall dinner at ASMO rated a "F." on the U.F.O. scale for Forgettable, but good. We'd eat it again in a heartbeat but we won't be running back specifically for the same meal!

After more swimming and a good nights rest we packed our bags and had them transferred to POFQ for our real package. We were worried this would be hard but it was super easy! One phone call to the luggage people and we left! We simply left ASMO and our bags were in our room. They picked our bags up from the room, transferred them to POFQ, and brought them to our new rooms!

On our way out we decided to grab a bite from ASMO food court for breakfast. We at by the pool since it was so nice out. Still paying OOP, Jessie, Woody, and Hamm all had kids meals and Wheezy chose a muffin. We found that the kids meals had PLENTY of food to fill us up.

Jessie and Woody had the kids meal with bacon, eggs, fruit, and drink. Hamm chose the mickey waffles (I am a sucker for Mickey shaped food!) with bacon and fruit, and Wheezy wanted chocolate for breakfast. Chocolate muffin that is!

IMG_2441.jpg

Didn't get a pic of the drinks but we had minute maid juice boxes or bottled water. The eggs were a bit runny here. The bacon was super floppy. The mickey waffles were good. Pre-made and not fresh, but good. The muffin looked good and my son devoured it so it must have been acceptable! This meal started the whole theme of bacon at Disney being horrid. This floppy bacon haunted us the whole trip. why can't they serve crispy bacon??? Even Jessie had a hard time eating it! She LOVES bacon but only played with this floppy mess!

Overall we weren't too impressed with breakfast. We gave it a "O." on the U.F.O. scale for "only if it were the last meal left on earth! Who wants to eat floppy bacon and runny eggs? It made Woody wish he'd have gotten the muffin too...

So how do you fix a horrid breakfast that dissapointed? Candy of course! We took the bus to Downtown Disney (horrible wait...took 50 minutes from getting in line to getting downtown) and went to Goofy's candy company before hopping on the boat to POFQ. Apparently not a lot of people eat candy for breakfast because at 10:00 it was completely empty! I've never seen Goofy's empty! We roamed around for about 15 minutes and a few more people started coming in. I liked being there that early. Wheezy has nut allergies and can't really eat anything from the fresh made cabinet so he chose jelly beans.

Would you believe that a bag of jelly beans costed more than $10?!
Jessie chose to a Minnie Mouse cookie, Woody had a caramel apple, and I opted for the carrot cake cookie. still licking our wounds from breakfast we also decided to get some chocolate covered mickey pretzels, a sucker, and cotton candy for later.

IMG_2404.jpg

The caramel apple was delicious so Woody tells me. The carrot cake cookie was too rich for me. It had cream cheese icing and butterscotch chips in it. I fed the cake part to the birds outside and they loved it. The minnie cookie left horrid stains on Jessies clothing from the black icing. I didn't think that one through before saying "yes" to her choice. The jelly beans were good and lasted all week for Wheezy. The sucker and cotton candy was eaten later that week and was what you would expect. The pretzels were fabulous and the whole family fought over those. We ended up getting several more bags throughout the trip!

Overall, we gave our expensive trip to Goofy's a "F." on the U.F.O. scale. expensive and not all good but there were some bright spots as well. We will be back to Goofy's later in the week with better luck!

Absolutely love your reviews & pics! Toy Story is my absolute favorite! Looking forward to more ...

Welcome Tinker12, bluejasmine, Goofyson'smom, butiflfeet! I had to stop reviews this afternoon to make lunch. Its strange making hot dogs after having so much choice. Jessie actually asked me to take a picture of her hot dog before we ate!:lmao: I told her we don't actually take pictures of food unless we're on vacation at Disney World.:dance3:

Count me in! I love the picture of "Jesse" with the floppy bacon, DH is a bacon lover too and this thin, plastic like stuff is such a poor excuse for it!

We were at POFQ too but left the day you arrived....loved the food court there!

After heading upriver to check in at POFQ we headed to lunch after taking in the atmosphere in the courtyard. With fond memories of overstuffed sandwiches in our minds we ordered some of the same treats we had at ASMO food court. Wheezy went for the meatball sandwich and chips again, Woody opted for the cheesesteak sandwich with fries again, and I wanted the make your own salad again. Jessie got fries and chicken nuggets, and fruit. I got a rice crispie treat for dessert.

The meatball sandwich, pictured twice, was about the same as ASMO. Wheezy loved the large meatballs and melted cheese. It was toasted fresh just like at ASMO. The chips were again too hard/thick. He didn't eat them all. The cheesesteak was MUCH smaller than the one we got at ASMO. It didn't even have half the meat that we got as ASMO. They did make it fresh though. My salad wasn't as good as the one from ASMO either. They had a few less topping choices at POFQ and they didn't mix it altogether in the silver bowl to make sure that it was all coated and mixed well. That isn't the end of the world really but it tasted better mixed up. They also gave out prepackaged individual salad dressings instead of mixing it with the salad. I got chicken on top this time (I could have had shrimp) and it was good. Just not AS good... Jessie ate some of the chicken nuggets and fries but was still full from the cookie. We saved the rice krispie treats and fruit for later.

After we ate a nice worker named Ethel came out with sugar cookies, icing, and sprinkles. She let any kid in the restraunt decorate their own cookies! It was so nice. She helped the little ones spread out the icing and everyone got to get their own sprinkles. It was a free event and really meant a lot to Jessie. Even Wheezy had fun with it! I saw Ethel doing the same thing later in the week but I don't remember what day. I would guess she does it a few days a week around lunchtime. It was really a nice touch.

Overall we rated our meal a "F" on the U.F.O. scale. it was good food and we would go back but not as good as ASMO's version of the same food. The cookie decorating was a nice touch though!

Next up, dinner at Tutto Italia!:goodvibes

Love your report~ Very Cute! We love POFQ :goodvibes

POR does there Salads the same way as ASM I had one in September after spending a morning over there fishing, and would go back there just for it! (Well that and the magic cookie bar thing, lol)

I wish I would have known that! We thought about heading up the river a few times to eat but decided against it and went downtown or ate at POFQ instead thinking it would be the same food. Darn the luck! I want my salad mixed!:rotfl:

I loved POFQ too! It was our 2nd trip there. We got a great room on the first floor of building 4 facing the courtyard where they do the movies at night. Perfect! Heck, our room was closer to the bus stop than the distance you'd have to travel from the bus stop to the front gate of the Magic Kingdom!

So it wasn't just me thinking the bacon was awful!? What is with that bacon? You can get that microwave bacon at the store that is pre-cooked that tastes better! We didn't have a single slice of bacon that was crispy the whole trip!

So after eating we decided to drop off our carry on bag with electronics with the bag services and head to epcot since our room wasn't ready. They were so sweet! They even lent us a stroller for the day since we had left ours to be moved by luggage services that morning.

By dinner we made our way to Italy to eat at Wheezy's choice: Tutto Italia. This was a bittersweet meal. It was SO GOOD but Jesse was SO BAD by this point. She was so tired she wasn't acting like the sweet Jesse we all know and love from the movies. She was acting more like Lotso at the end of Toy Story 3. She was way too tired and cranky. Nonetheless we tried to enjoy our meal.

Jesse ordered Mozerella sticks for an appetizer, cheese pizza for entree, and vanilla gelato for dessert. Wheezy ate the lasagne for dinner and He got fresh berries with fresh creme for dessert (not on menu--they made it special for him since all desserts had nut issues). Woody had the braised short ribs for dinner and cheesecake for dessert. I had the farfalle for dinner and the dessert trio sampler for dessert.

Jesse's meal:
IMG_2578.jpg

IMG_2595.jpg

The mozzarella sticks were actually "balls". For a kid's appetizer this was huge! The mozzeralla balls tasted a lot different than our Americanized version. She was cranky and kept telling us they tasted funny. She ate exactly one bite of one ball. We all sampled the rest... They ARE different. Heavier. More dense. But good! The cheese pizza was HUGE for a kids meal. It was covered with more cheese than you can imagine. It had a great crust that tasted like it was from a brick oven. Jesse did eat this pizza although she stopped frequently to complain about her food hurting or her brother looking at her or whatever....serious bad mood! The gelato was really strong and didn't taste like the ice cream she was used to. She tasted one bite and then cried the rest of the meal about how her life was so bad. ;)

Woody's meal:
IMG_2587.jpg
IMG_2594.jpg

Woody's ribs were very tender. They literally fell apart on his fork! He loved the potatoes and said the veggies were okay. Woody doesn't like many veggies that aren't "normal" everyday veggies. I tasted them and loved them. He loved his cheesecake too!

Wheezy's meal:
IMG_2588.jpg

Wheezy ate every bite of his lasagne to my disappointment. I kept hoping I'd get a taste when he got full. It was a large portion and I was surprised he could finsih it. He seemed to actually enjoy the berries/cream dessert. I was worried he'd feel left out since his nut allergy sometimes keeps him from the real desserts. he seemed content though.

Hamm's meal:
IMG_2590.jpg

IMG_2596.jpg

Oh my gosh, that Farafelle was great! I ate every bite and could have asked for more! The dessert trio was okay. All 3 desserts were very good and interesting, but very rich. I'm not much on rich desserts. Since it was a sampler platter all 3 were pretty small and only had a bite or 2 each so it wasn't too overpowering. I was able to finish...don't worry!

We also had assorted breads and a cream cheese like spread that had pine nuts in it:
IMG_2579.jpg
IMG_2584.jpg

The breads were good and the spread was pretty interesting. I tried one of the stick looking things in the cream cheese. very good. There was a cheese cracker one too that was great. The rest were just so-so.

We gave Tutto Italia a "U" on the "U.F.O." scale for Unforgettable! We will definitely be back for more! Hopefully next time Jesse will not be acting like a cranky alien from another planet!:thumbsup2

Great reviews and 10 out of 10 for your title and rating system :thumbsup2

Thanks Linda67! Ironically we came up with the rating system and title as a family but when we all picked our "characters" noone chose to be buzz lightyear! I was surprised! I really thought Jessie would jump to be Jesse but after we deemed dad as Woody she attached to Jessie very quickly. She IS a daddy's girl!:goodvibes
