I just wanted to thank everyone for the input. It's funny, I had the feeling that if I asked my friends they'd just tell me what they thought I wanted to hear. I thought, well if I ask it on the DIS and I get flamed, it will be a clue that I'm on the wrong track!

Just another thought, if she really is desperate, this will make her a little more desperate, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. As long as she could rely on you enabling her she didn't have to face at least one of her problems (treating people who are helping her bad, not even showing the courtesy of a phone call, etc.).

Often times doing the right thing is not the easist thing to do, or the most fun.

You are right I wouldn't have enabled my own child like this! I've always had such high excpectations for her.
