Should I bring my DDs (ages 2,4,5) princess costumes...we have some special character meals planned (CRT, Tea Party, Chef Mickey)? I wan't going to bring their costumes with us, but don't want them to feel left out...What to do?

I'm buying custom clothes for my dd to wear when go. I think the little girls are adorable in the princess dresses but I want something a little different.

When we were there in September we saw LOTS of little girls in princess dresses. The CMs were so nice and treated them extra special. In LTT we saw a CM ask a "Cinderella" for her autograph, it was so sweet! If I had a little girl, I'd definitely take the dresses!

I would take the dresses. My cousin had her girls take theirs and they went to the BBB and then went to MK to get pics taken with the princesses and then went to the princess dinner at Epcot and had pictures taken there. I think when they are older and look at the pictures they will be glad you found the room to pack them! Plus i'm not sure if your 5 yr old is in kindergarten yet but she can take her pics in to show all the girls that she saw the princesses at disney and got to dress like them too!! I'm pre-student teaching right now and my girls got all excited when they got princess valentines, i can only imagine what they would do if they saw your daughters princess pictures!

My DD wore her dresses almost the entire time we were there. I would say that you will definitely want them for the tea party. We did the Perfectly Princess Tea Party and only 2 little girls were not dressed as princesses. They didn't seem to mind at all, but my DD would have been upset. You can pack the dresses in ziplock bags and squeeze the air out- they really fluff up again well and it keeps the glitter off you other clothes. Have fun!

I think I am in the minority here. If your main reason for bringing them is so they don't feel left out, I say leave them home. There are lots of kids who do not dress up.

I completely understand your situation. I went back and forth with the same question for our trip in Dec. and ultimately decided not to bring them. My DDs (2.5, 5, 6) play dress up all the time at home. But at WDW they wore Disney shirts every day (simple ones, not custom) and that was enough for them. I was a little nervous at the Storybook Princess dinner because there were a lot of girls dressed up, but they never once got upset or even asked about it. They were just incredibly excited to meet the princesses.

For me, the benefits (cute pictures, won't feel left out) did not outweigh the negatives (not as comfortable for my girls as regular clothes, the logistics and effort of transporting them to both FL and WDW, storing them during the day at the park, etc. etc.)

You know your kids better than anyone, and if you think they would enjoy it, then go for it. Personally, I am glad I did not bring them.

I'm with you. If your kids are really into the costumes, then I would definitely bring them. Otherwise, there is just so much going on and there are way more kids not in costumes than in costumes. I don't think they would feel out of place in everyday clothing. I would hate having to carry them around and have the kids change in and out of them for the meals.

My dd 5 practically lives in her princess dress up at home, so we definitely brought them with us. I brought along 2 dresses, and she spent 3 entire days all decked out, including meals at CRT, Epcot Princess Breakfast, and the Sleeping Beauty Tea. This also included her birthday and a visit to the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. princess:

This is a great tip!! I never ever would have thought of doing that

Great picture...I definitely would let them wear their gowns...but take comfy shoes not the normal glass slippers...if they want fancy shoes buy canvas and spray them with glitter...and take lots of pictures.
