Ok My fellow DISers here is the plan we will be at WDW for 41/2 days.
We have two DS 12 and 6, we will be also trying to fit in a few water parks (thanks to WP and More), we were at WDW last year for the first time. We never went to DTD do you think we should take the time to go? Help me with your knowledge oh great Disers! Thnks Nettii:goodvibes

We LOVE DTD! Of course, I have a son who is Legomaniac and could spend a whole day in the Lego Store. I like the atmosphere down there, altho World Of Disney can get crowded and easy to lose people! :rolleyes1

We used to save all our shopping till the last day and go to DTD. They carry MOST of what you find in the parks. BUT, we've had a few instances where we could NOT find that special something that was only at the park :sad1: . Now, if they see something they HAVE to have, I let them buy it and send it to the room.

There are a lot of things at DTD that you won't find anywhere else, though, and the Ghirardelli shop, Earl of Sandwich, Christmas Shop and Scrapbooking store are regulars on my to-do list. (I also like the kitchen store and pin trading center too!)

We also like to visit DisneyQuest on the WestSide! Your kids are good ages to have fun there - lots of teens in there, it's a huge arcade with some really unique games! If they are video game nuts, they will love it - and it's included in your Parks& More Passes, so why not? It's usually open till 11 too.

Since you have few days, go to DTD some night when you've had enough of the parks. It's open late, there's lots to see and do, and you don't have to pay extra - unless you shop!;)

We love moseying around DTD. We like to walk through the stores, and one of our favorite things is to pack a box of Disney Potato Head accessories. We check out toys, trains, try different snacks, people watch. It's very relaxing, and the stores can be so fun! We also love Earl of Sandwich and Ghiradhelli. I also hear there is Goofy Candy Store, but we haven't run into it yet. I would definitely suggest it, it can be a nice break.

On our first 3 family trips to Disney, we never bothered to go to DTD. I figured I didn't want to take time away from the parks. However, when we went last year in December, I thought we would go to DTD to do some shopping. Well, it is so much more than just shopping (although the shopping is great - I could spend all day in the Christmas store). DH took DS12 and DD9 to Disneyquest and they had a blast. The rest of us strolled in and out of the shops, ate lunch at Earl and really had a nice relaxing time. It's definitely worth a visit.

We always take some time to go to DTD at least once or twice during our vacation. I LOVE the Christmas store and Earl of sandwich!!!! My girls love all the stores and of course BBB!!!

Depending on what time of year you go to WDW, DTD is open till 11 and PI till 1am.. Parks close at say 5-7ish in the winter. We head down to downtown Disney in the evening for a hour or two always a good time.

Wow thanks for allthe input! Know I have a million questions but Ill only ask a few...............................................................................
What store has the potatoe head parts? (we will have to add to our collection from last year!)
And Disney quest do you pay for tokens like an arcade?
Ok one more quick question Earl of sandwich is it TS or CS?
Thanks guys I knew I could count on you guys for the info!Nettii:goodvibes

I am not sure which store the Potato Head is in...maybe Once Upon a Toy? Can someone else confirm? :confused3

Disney Quest - you pay for admission (almost $40!) or you can use a PLUS option on your ticket

Earl of Sandwich is COUNTER SERVICE! And it is THE BEST SANDWICH IN ALL THE WORLD!!!!!!! No, really...IT'S OUTRAGEOUS!!!!! I am craving one as I type about it. DELISH!!!!!

We stayed at OKW and took the boat over to DTD at like 4:00pm, had dinner at Rainforest Cafe and walked around a few shops and spent maybe 5 hours total. Then took the boat back. The kids enjoyed it. But its mostly shopping. DD, 5 and DS, 3 at the time we went which was Dec 2006.

If your planning on doing A half day at a park or the day you do animal kingdom as it closes earlier than the rest. Head to DTD for the evening. Beware you will more than likely spend money. It's a great place.
