I can't decide whether to pick up my checked bag and bring to the bus or to let them handle it. I don't really need anything that is going to be in the bag that day. I'm just worried that my bag won't show up.

Thoughts.....?????

We have been using DME since it first started and have never had any problems with the service at all. Anything that we might need for the first couple of hours we take in our carry-on bag.

We've used DME 3 times before and never had a problem. It's so easy not to have to worry about your bags. I'm sorry we can't let them take our bags this time as we get in at 10 pm. We'll have to get them ourselves and take them on the bus. Oh well, I guess it's better than a knock on the door at 2 am:rotfl:

We love the DME...it's like a touch of Disney picking you right up at the airport! :thumbsup2

Never had a problem with checked bags not showing up at the resort. :) Now, checked luggage getting lost by the airline back in the 'Peg is a different story lol

I've decided that it was probably too stressful for me to worry about my bag getting on the bus so I'm just going to collect it. We are getting there quite early in the day and I'm the type where if my bag is not unpacked I can't relax so I'd rather have it with me. From what I understand, it's not a big deal, you just get it at baggage after the flight like you normally would, roll it over to the ME desk and then they put it on the bus for you.

I'm the same way as you. I like to get there, unpack, then head out. We're picking up our checked bag as well then heading to ME. It's only 1 extra bag so no big deal.

Don't stress out about your bags. We have used ME for every trip and it has never been lost. I get more stressed out about watching the baggage carousel hoping my bags show up. I like the idea of just checking in at the hotel, dropping off my carry on and leaving for the parks or resort pool. But if you feel better picking up your bags then do it. Either way it is okay.

I still am undecided. Maybe I'll just let DH decide. Our flight lands at 3:40pm and I'm hoping to be at the resort by 5pm. We are planning to have dinner at DTD so it doesn't matter if we have the bag until later. We will unpack after dinner. Maybe even the next day as that is a pool day.

When are you going? Our flight with AirTran also lands around that time in Sept.

We are using AT as well. Those sneakers...when I booked it was to arrive 25 minutes earlier. I know, only 25 minutes, but that's 25 minutes that the mouse is deprived of. On the flip side our flight home is 20 minutes later and with the 3 hour DME pick up that makes a difference in the wee hours of the morning.

August 29th......12 more days hehehehe :yay:

If you decide not to have DME pickup your bags, DO NOT put the yellow luggage tags on them or DME will pick them up automatically.

Depending on when you arrive, your room may not be ready anyways and you'll have to check them with luggage services while you go to the parks anyways.

Don't worry about your bags - we've been to Disney 4 times in the past 2 years and never once did we not receive our bags.

Same thing happened to us with a difference though of 40 mins later on the way down (leaving at 1:05 pm) & 50 mins later on the way back (which benefitted us too, 9:50 is much better than 9:00 am).

They've only changed it once though, so fingers crossed it stays that way :)

I'm sure our rooms will be ready by the time we get there, I'm guessing 5ish, even with picking our bags up.

My parents are coming with us & not doing any carry ons (they don't want to have them in the airport with them to carry around) so they want their luggage so we may as well pick ours up too since we'll be waiting for theirs.

We never do the parks on the day we arrive, we're too tired from travelling. I like to unpack, rest, settle in & head for the pool!! I won't settle until my bags are there.

On one of our trips to Tampa, my husband actually left one of our bags on the carosel. There were 4 of us travelling & we all had black bags. We didn't notice until 1 am when we got to our hotel. By then the airport was closed. I didn't sleep all night, all my clothes were in the bag. So from now on I want to have my bags when I leave the airport.

we've never had issues with DME. :thumbsup2 I think it's a fantastic service and we're gearing up to use them next week.:banana:
