To Dis or Not to Dis- Need opinion!

Hello everyone,
Let me say thanks for any help in advance. We are headed to Perdido Key, Florida for a 7 night/8 day stay over the summer. (it's 15 miles west of Pensacola) We had originally wanted to do a week at Disney, but we've been waiting on some stuff to pan out (selling our house for one thing). We went ahead and booked the condo when it looked like Disney was out of the question. Since then our circumstances have changed, and I was thinking (my Disney wheels are always turnin!) that we could check out our last day at the beach and head down to Orlando for a 3 or 4 night stay at Disney.

My question is...do you think it would be too hard on us? To let you know, the beach trip is scheduled to be REAL laid back...mostly hangin at the beach/condo and cookin meals ourselves. RELAXING! I have two daughters...3 and 6. I even thought about withholding the Disney info and it being a surprise end of the trip.

What do you guys think? Too much? or just perfect?

So you would stay the full amount of days at the beach and then do several at Disney? Sounds like a long but great vacation to me. If you plan on just hangin at the beach for several days and keeping it low key, I think it would be realistic to do both. Once you get there though let the kids kind of dictate how much time you are in the parks. If they are doing fine keep chugging along, but if they are showings signs of being to tired head back to the hotel for a rest in the afternoon and head back again in the evening. I think your big concern with be the 3 year old, but if you make sure she is getting naps during the day and into bed at a reasonable time while you are at the beach, I think she would be ok. Have fun whatever you decide.

I say go for it. We rarely have the opportunity to be away for more than a week, so if the opportunity presents itself, we are thrilled to death. I'd think the kids would be really excited to spend a few days at the mouse, especially since they had time to relax and have fun in the sun for a week beforehand.

I agree about the 3 year old. She was my main concern. The good thing is we went last year...did the 6 night/7 day full-on assault on the parks. I feel like if we went into it with the understanding that it needs to be as flexible as possible...allowing for plenty of rest time...that it would be ok.

As for the extra time, I'm so lucky that my husband and I are both school teachers. As long as we can afford it, the vacation opportunities are endless!
