To ATL and back:Disney Kids survive Snowpocalypse '11~4 month update

The bakery in France is so yummy! You mentioned the napoleon and I got all excited. I love that treat!

After a little break at the hotel we headed out to get some dinner, see Wishes, and enjoy some late night MK fun. I apparently didn’t take many pics this evening so I’m gonna really try to remember what we did. I also didn’t take very good notes. Eh…so I’ll do my best.

IMG_0359.jpg

We brough a bunch of glow sticks with us on the trip and totally forgot to take them to the parks almost every night (we did remember on our fantasmic night but we still had a million). So we took ALL of our glowsticks tonight with us since it was our last night in the parks.

Once at MK we checked PPF’s FP situation. They were all gone so we decided to hit Pinoccio’s for dinner. They had pizza and some other things and we hadn’t eaten there yet. It was ok food but nothing to write home about. Oliver ended up going over to CHH for dinner and bringing it back to eat with us at Pinoccio’s. He doesn’t really like pizza and the rest of the food on the menu didn’t really appeal to him. I tried to text him and get him to get the apple crisp for his desert and then I would trade him my chocolate cake thing but we had a lot of issues with the cell phones. Either Pinoccio’s hated us or CHH did. Either way, we ended up with a million chocolate cake things and no apple crisp.

We did get a seat where we could see the Small World riders so that was fun. There were some cute kids sitting next to us and we ended up offering them some of our millions of deserts. We started talking to them and their parents. Talked about pin trading and where we were all from. Then we offered them some of our millions of glowsticks. The kids were happy to take them and we headed out to ride Haunted Mansion.

While in line we decided to put on ALL the glowsticks. Ever snap 30 glowsticks all at once? It was FUN!! We went all out and put glowsticks all over ourselves, wrists, necks, headbands, on our lanyards. Well…it was a BAD DECISION.

Wanna know how Haunted Mansion works? Wear a million glowsticks while riding. Ya know the term, smoke and mirrors?? Well, lets just say that there were a lot of ghosts wearing glowsticks on that ride. I think I rode with Avery on that one and after about 30 seconds of the ride we started trying to shove all of our glowsticks inside our jackets or sit on them and get rid of them. We felt pretty bad about it and hoped it didn’t ruin the ride for anyone.

After that fiasco, we headed over to find a good spot to watch Wishes. After our failed attempt at watching from Cosmic Ray’s I got on Disboards to figure out where we were REALLY supposed to try. It was the Tomorrowland Terrace. Well, we got over there and realized that there was a Wishes Desert Party going on. So instead we ended up on the walkway between that and CP. It wasn’t a bad place to watch so we stuck it out there.

After Wishes, I gave my friend Erin a call. It was her birthday and we had talked for a while about her coming along on the trip. It didn’t end up working out but I wanted to give her a call. I also sent her a text photo with pics from Wishes. I told her they were shooting off fireworks for her birthday!

After our phone call, we decided to hit Jungle Cruise and try some Dole Whips. At the Dole Whip window the guy got confused and thought we wanted 2. So we ended up with 2 Dole Whips and used 2 snack credits. I was a little bummed cause we were being so careful to ration out our snack credits. And then, on top of that, I didn’t really like the Dole Whip. I know…I know!! But I don’t really like pineapple so I wasn’t surprised. Elliott and Andrew finished the 2 off and it was all fine.

Next we headed to Fantasyworld and the line for Dumbo was all but empty. So we jumped in line.
DSC02487.jpg

While in fantasyland we stopped to get a pic of Andrew pulling on the sword. We messed up his pic earlier in the week when we did it.
DSC02488.jpg

Next Avery, Elliott, and I rode the teacups.
DSC02492.jpg

Bonus to this? Elliott is way stronger than us and totally competitive so he SPUN that teacup and Avery and I just sat back and ENJOYED!
DSC02493.jpg

After the teacups, Andrew, Avery, and I decided to go check out the Laugh Floor. Elliott and Oliver wanted to try out Stitch. After our rides we decided it was time to move toward the front and head back to the resort.

On our way out we stopped to get a pic in front of the castle.
DSC02498.jpg

Avery and I then went on a hunt to find churros. NO LUCK!! Apparently at midnight all the churro places are closed. Maybe I should have started that quest a little earlier in the night. Ah well, we stopped to get a few more pics.

IMG_0398.jpg

DSC02504.jpg

After that, we met up with the rest of the boys. Elliott, Oliver, and Avery decided that they just wanted to go back to the hotel but Andrew and I wanted to shop. So we figured they could handle a bus trip back alone and we sent them off and headed to the Emporium. After a while of wandering we didn’t really find anything that we MUST have (except I REALLY wanted the beautiful blanket that was part of the “spend $xx and you can buy this for $xx” promotion. We decided to just wait until the next morning and grab our souveniers on our way out. Since our trip was right after Christmas, Andrew and I had both asked for gift cards as Christmas gifts. So we had a bit of Disney money to spend.

On our way out of the park we saw the Electrical Water Pageant. That was fun to see and nice to share with Andrew alone. We didn’t get much alone time on this trip so we really savored the time that we did get.

Once back at the hotel, we packed up as much as we could, showered, and got ready for the next day. Avery and I made some excuse to go up to the main hall. I had to prep Andrew’s birthday surprises for his birthday in the am.

I had gotten a Mickey Mouse balloon at the Dollar Store and wanted to see if the front desk would fill it with helium for me. We found a manager and he was super nice and filled it up AND got a little Mickey weight for it.

While at the main hall, Avery also used his gift card to get Andrew a Yoda pin for his lanyard.

Then we headed back to the room, I stuck my head in and thankfully Andrew was in the shower. So Avery and I ran in with the balloon and hid it in the boys bathroom (thank Heaven for the family suite’s 2 bathrooms!)

Then we headed to bed. I waited til Andrew fell asleep and jumped out of bed, grabbed his birthday gifts and put them on his bedside table with his balloon. I wanted him to have a fun surprise in the morning!

Coming up: How do we spend our last day at Disney?

I think you got the same guy I did when getting Dole Whips! I had the same problem, it was like he didn't understand us and we ended up getting too many of them.

Oh my! Your glow sticks fun in the Haunted Mansion had me laughing so much!! :lmao: I had to read it to dh! I guess that would change the ride a little and can just imagine seeing you trying to hide them all. Soo funny!!

How sweet about your birthday surprise for Andrew. :thumbsup2 I can't wait to hear about the last day, but so sad to see this is ending!

Yeah!! I really wasn't sure he understood English all that well. Though it WAS pretty late at night and he may have just been really tired. Oh well...we still ended up with snacks left over at the end so it was fine.

It was pretty funny at the time, once we got over the horror of what we had just done. :sad2:

We had a pretty good last day at Disney. The day went SOUTH really fast after that though. So don't worry...this TR still has a good 4-5 (or more) updates coming. But I don't want to give too much away, so I'm gonna stop talking right there.

Love the Electrical Water pageant pictures! I don't know why I like the EWP so much but it's just so cute (especially the octopus) in a Lite Brite-y kind of way.

Having a good spinner in the tea cups is the best. I hate focusing on spinning but love going really really fast, so it doesn't always work out.

Did you get the blanket? I'm really hoping it's still the castle blanket when we go in December because I want one so badly! Never mind that we have more blankets than we could ever use (somehow we just keep acquiring more and more...), it's so pretty!

I am not to fond of pineapple either so no dole whips for me. I had a citrus swirl instead :). It kind of made for a weird experience with the dessert at Ohana's. I was hording my snacks for 8 days so I could use them at the Food & Wine festival. Guess how many I used that day. A big whopping two :lmao: We ended up having 16 left the night we left so lots of snacks to take home to my daughter (the tye dye cheesecake in the cooler didn't make it)

Great update! Fantastic pictures! I love that first one looking up at the castle and the last wishes one! Great shot of all of you in front of the castle, too.

You did a lot of fun things that night!

I also cracked up at your Haunted Mansion story!!! Too Funny!

Bummer at not getting the apple cobbler from CHH- that is my son's favorite!

How did you like Jungle Cruise at night? A lot of people rave, but we thought it was just meh for us.

I'm glad you saw and got some great pictures of EWP.

Looking forward to hearing about your last day, but sad that your report is almost over. :(

Cute group shot in front of the castle. Funny story about the glow bracelets though.

Can't wait to see how Andrew's birthday surprise turns out. So sweet of you all!

Have fun on your upcoming Disney/Universal trip! Only bummer with going while pregnant is that you miss out on a lot of rides. HP world is awesome! I walked out with way too many souvenirs.

The EWP was cool! I really wanted to try and see it on our first trip but it never worked out. It was a nice little surprise this time!

Having a spinner was AWESOME!! I had to ride it alone last time cause Andrew doesn't do spinning rides!

I did get the blanket! I love it! We've been through a lot together...you'll understand soon!

Hahaha!! We always get really spend-thrifty with our snacks too and then have a million to spend at the end. Maybe this trip that won't happen since there's only 1 snack per day. :sad2: But I'm pretty sure it'll just make us worse!

Thanks!! I really love pics of the castle at night!

We did do a lot that night!! I love late night at the MK!!! It's awesome!!

I enjoy Jungle Cruise at night but we also went on our first jungle cruise at night so it has good memories. But really it's pretty much the same as during the day... Though our first time our skipper took his flashlight and flashed it on a waterfall and said "Hey look! It's Fantasmic!!" (I think it was the Schweitzer Falls). Andrew and I had just gone to Fantasmic the day before and had been a little less than impressed and considered it just "movies on water" so that joke was HILARIOUS to us. But no skipper has ever done it again and that was sad cause that joke totally MADE that ride for us!

Don't be too sad about the TR ending...we still have a while to go. Our last day "lasted" a while!

Yeah...I don't mind too much missing the rides at Disney (they're mostly ones that I either do alone or don't go on at all so no big loss). But I am sad about missing Forbidden Journey. We're both very excited to do WWoHP and see everything!!! I'm sure we will buy WAY too much stuff too!!

Ok so I’m gonna try and get a quick update in here. Bear with me cause my notes are non-existent for this day on. My notebook is a blank page from about halfway thru yesterday! So we’ll see how this goes! OOOH!! I forgot…I have kinda notes on my iphone! They were written 284 days ago! YIKES!!

First a note about the night before…Andrew reminded be that I gave him one of his gifts that night. He was kinda sad cause he had run out of trader pins and still had almost a whole day left with nothing that he wanted to trade. I didn’t want him going to bed bummed out about it so I gave him 1 gift early. When I ordered pins for the boys’ Christmas presents I ordered 10 extra and just didn’t tell Andrew. I knew he would be running low on traders by the last day and I really wanted him to be able to trade on his birthday without having to make decisions about what he was willing to part with. So his early birthday present was a set of 10 more traders so he had LOTS to trade with on his birthday. He was pretty excited and immediately put the pins on his lanyard and put the keepers away in our luggage!

So the next morning when Andrew woke up, there was a balloon and a couple of gifts on his bedside table. I remember when I was a kid on some birthdays my mom would leave a gift in my bed and it would be there when I woke up. That was the most magical feeling and I really wanted him to feel like a kid today! I mean he WAS in Disney World ON his birthday!! He was surprised and excited about his gifts. I had gotten him Toy Story Mania for the wii (so he could take some of WDW home with him) and Avery had gotten him that pin. Elliott and Oliver kinda forgot to get anything but Andrew, of course, didn’t care. I think he was a little surprised and touched that Avery had gotten him something.

So after some present time we got up and finished packing up. I checked in for our flight on my iphone and we headed to drop our luggage off at the front before heading to the parks.

Where were we heading?? Stay Tuned!!

I love that!!!

We had one skipper (Blake) who quoted Willy Wonka as we were going into the Asian tunnel. None of our other drivers have ever done that. It really is amusing when you get "new" material

What great planning to get those extra pins. :) Those instincts will serve you well when you are a parent!

Just got caught up on your report. That's funny about the glow sticks in the Haunted Mansion...I never would have thought that would reveal all the secrets! I love the pic of your brothers on Dumbo with their arms in the air! :rotfl: I'm dreading your long last day, though!

How sweet that you bought some extra pins for him to trade. :thumbsup2 I love the idea of waking up to a birthday surprise, too. (Might have to steal that one for the boys next year ;)) So sad that this is the last day though! :sad1:

Where did you order your pins from? I want to try pin trading on my next trip :)

:) I hope so. I have every intention of being an AWESOME parent! :) Hope I can live up to my expectations.

You should totally steal it! It makes your birthday EXTRA magical!

I buy them on ebay. I'm a horrible person. I try to find a "good" seller (there's some thread on here that has tons of info about good and bad sellers) but sometimes I just buy the ones I can afford.

That sounds like a good idea :) Thanks

Hey!! I’m still alive!! Hope some of you are still around!
I’m sorry for abandoning you guys but please don’t take it personally, I even abandoned baby preparations from mid Oct til now! I had been taking baby bump photos each week and it went from once a week to every 3 or so weeks. I am the artistic director for a month long Christmas festival and mid Oct started crunch time with the festival ending on Christmas eve. After family time and a few days to recover, I’m getting back to life again…AND we have a trip coming up in 3 weeks and I REALLY want to finish this before then!! I only have the end of Andrew’s birthday day and then our trip home to complete. So hopefully I can do it!!

So…back to your not-so-regularly scheduled TR….

We left off with packing up the room and heading out to our first park. The night before we must have discussed our plans for the day. The original plan was to go to MK but after our previous MK day, we really had done all the stuff we wanted to do. So I opened it up to Andrew and the boys….Andrew got first choice cause it was his b-day though. The end decision was to hit EP for Soarin and then eventually end up at MK.

We made it to EP in time for RD and managed to get onto the very first ride of Soarin!
IMG_0400.jpg

After Soarin’ we decided to grab FPs for a second flight and stick around for a little while longer. Andrew and I wanted some breakfast and had snacks left so we grabbed some food at Sunshine Seasons and the boys decided to ride Living with the Land again. Today was a relaxed day with no real plan so we just chilled for a while and waited for them.

After they got off the ride we decided to hit Club Cool and do a bit of pin trading. Finally we decided to just go to MK and gave up on our FPs. We passed them off to a family and headed to the monorail.

IMG_0401.jpg

IMG_0402.jpg

This began our wonderful day of transportation issues. Little did we know that this would become the theme of the day. Our ride from EP to the TTC was a little slow cause we stopped on the tracks a few times. Finally we reached TTC and went to get on the MK monorail. There was a HUGE line and no monorail in sight. Finally a monorail appeared, opened the doors, then closed the doors and left!! After that happened a second time, Andrew went up to the CM to see what the heck was going on. The CM tried to stick to his script but finally Andrew got him to admit that something was going on with the monorails and that it might be a while. We bailed.

At that point we headed back down the ramp to the ferry. The ferry was kinda fun though there were a LOT of seagulls and Avery was hilariously terrified!! He was curled up in a ball on the floor of the ferry trying to protect himself from the seagulls. The rest of us thought it was hysterical. Poor Avery!

IMG_0404.jpg

IMG_0403.jpg

Once at MK, I told Elliott that if he wanted to ride SM that this would be the best time of the day to do so. So Elliott and Oliver ran off to tomorrowland while Andrew, Avery and I started walking to Fantasyland, I think to get PPF fast passes. On the way we passed the Rapunzel line and decided…ya know what! Screw it! We wanna meet Rapunzel!! So into line we jumped!

I think we had to wait for 1 full M&G and then wait for them to come out again. I think overall we waited maybe an hour? Andrew held the spot for a while while Avery and I went to get the churros that we weren’t able to find the night before and got FPs for Peter Pan’s Flight.

At some point Elliott and Oliver came and checked in with us, decided they didn’t want to meet Rapunzel and then ran off to ride some other rides. I know they rode the Stitch ride and maybe a few others.

We FINALLY got to do our M&G! First we stood in line while the little kids colored and then danced with R and F.

DSC02523.jpg

DSC02524.jpg

DSC02525.jpg

This would have been cooler if we had a kid of our own but as it was, it was just more waiting in line. But finally it was our turn! Yay!!

DSC02526.jpg

DSC02527.jpg

They talked to us for a few minutes, we had Flynn do his smolder and then got a pic.
DSC02528.jpg

It was fun to meet them and really, we were being chill that day and didn’t really mind just sitting in line and enjoying being at Disney. We were all pretty tired by this point and didn’t have the energy to go go go.

After our M&G the boys were back and we all decided to go get FPs for Jungle Cruise. Once we got there the line was really short so we just rode it instead of FP-ing it. Again, it was fun! We really like that ride. The cheesiness just makes it awesome!

After that, Andrew got to pick our lunch location and he chose Cosmic Rays. So back to Tomorrowland we went. When we got up to the counter the guys there saw Andrew’s birthday button and sang a birthday song for him! LOL
DSC02531.jpg

DSC02532.jpg

I think he was a little embarrassed! It’s so funny, cause he wore that button the whole trip but only got recognition on his real birthday. Haha!

At lunch we had to start getting creative with food credits cause Elliott hadn’t shared any meals like the rest of us had and he was out of meals but had a bunch of snacks left. So he traded Oliver some snack credits for a meal credit. It worked out fine cause Oliver made a meal out of snack credit items and Elliott got a full meal. The rest of us were right on track with meals and time left.

After lunch we went to use our PPF FPs and see Mickey’s Philharmagic one more time (since it’s my favorite!)

DSC02533.jpg

IMG_0406.jpg

Love this sign!! :-D

IMG_0407.jpg

After that, we decided it was time to do our souvenir shopping and start making our way out of the park. We spent quite a while in the shops finding what we wanted. I ended up getting this awesome black and white hound’s-tooth purse with a Mickey silhouette on it. I love that purse and I’ve used it for a year now! My purses usually only last about 4-5 months cause I get bored. I also got an antenna topper and some postcards and things for Mom and Dad back home AND I got the awesome Castle blanket. That blanket was my best friend for the next 3 days and we still love to use it at home! The purse and blanket were the best souvenirs we’ve ever bought!!

After we spent most of our money (Andrew didn’t find much he wanted and ended up coming home with $$ still on a gift card…good thing we have another trip coming up!! :cool1:) we stopped for a few more pics in front of the castle. Please notice the awesome shirts that I made!!:thumbsup2

DSC02534.jpg

And then our now traditional “saying goodbye to the castle” picture
DSC02535.jpg

And then we were headed off to the resort to gather our bags and head to the airport.

I’m gonna stop here for now…but don’t leave (assuming you’re still here…) cause this day is FAR from over... dum dum DUMMMM

I'm still here! Sounds like a pretty relaxed last day! Except for whatever is coming up...

Can't believe your next trip is so soon! :cool1:
