Hello everyone,
A quick and easy question! Since it is now official I am going away with my boyfriend in June, I will be going for about 22 days over the next year, so I thought it would be cheaper to by an Annual Pass. Is this so? Is it worth it? Will a lot of discounts and rates be cut off to me by me having an annual pass when my boyfriend won't? Plus where do you buy Annual Passes from?

Thanks for the help guys! I know I can trust you for the good information! :thumbsup2

Hi Kate,

You will 100% save lots of money by getting the annual pass. The only exception would be if your overseas residency would exclude you from buying one - but I'm sure someone could answer that.

If you can buy one - do so. All you'll need to do is go to a ticket window at one of the parks or DTD and ask them to purchase an annual pass.

Then - you can buy a TiW card to save on dining.
In addition, you'll be eligible for AP discounts on resort rates.

Have fun!

Hello Kate,

DEFINITELY get the annual pass. Let's do the math:

A 10 day Magic Your Way pass (10 days is the maximum number of days you can purchase) with the No Expiration Option and Park Hopper Option is $504.00. I added Park Hopping and No Expiration since you get these features with an annual pass.

So, to get 22 days, you would have to purchase 2 of these passes and that would still only get you 20 days for a grand total of $1008.00

An annual pass is $489.00. The AP will also get you free parking (not a benefit if you are staying on property) but you also get discounts, mostly 10% at certain restaurants. You also get a 10% discount on merchandise at World of Disney.

The discounts also apply to your boyfriend at restaurants since the discount is on the total bill. Cast members at WoD used to ask for a photo ID to make sure you were the person that owned the AP but they haven't been doing this lately.

If you are planning on going to the water parks more than 3 time during your visits, then you might want to consider a premium AP. That AP is $619.00 ($130 more than a regular pass) but includes the water parks and DisneyQuest. If you go to the waterparks more than 3 times, then the premium AP pays for itself.

Sooo..... getting an annual pass is really the way to go. You can purchase an AP at any ticket window, guest relations at DTD or if you are staying on property, then at your hotel.

Thank you so much for the information guys!

I forgot to add that my mom is an Annual Pass Holder, and as DVC owners we get a discount too! However she completely forgot where she bought her's from!

Also as British Citizens we can buy up to 21 day passes in one go, which is about $400, but they expire after 21 days after use, so great for my boyfriend, useless for me!

On the DVC discount for the annual pass either call DVC at the number on the back of the ID card or go on line into your DVC account for the information. They can help you through.

You're still living at home correct? The DVC discount is limited to direct family living at the member's home. Adults have to present photo id to confirm this.

You don't need to buy the tickets ahead of time. You can buy them at Guest Relations. Your mom would need to be with you. You can also buy the TiW card at the same time.

The DVC discount is $100 on an AP and $125 on a PAP.
