No. It is not only a violation of the terms and conditions of the original purchase, but is a violation of federal law. (17 USC 1201)

No it is not legal (which is why I didn't post the actual steps).

However I have no problem reading a book in the allotted time frame and I delete the book after I'm done with it so I personally can live with my actions . YMMV.

I just looked this up and Consumer Reports gives an overall rating to the Kindle 3G-WiFi of 70 and Nook color was 68 (comparing similar screen sizes). Kindle 3rd generation (larger screen) gets a 67.

That's higher enough for me.
