? to All. What was the 1st place you ate at WDW?

When I was a kid, we almost always only had counter service, and I remember the place in Tomorrowland (The Launching Pad?)
But we did have lunch at the Diamond Horseshoe Revue.

First nice meal was when DH and I were on our honeymoon and we ate at the Gulf Coast Room, high up in the Contemporary, it is gone now, has since been replaced by Cali Grill.

MK day trip in college 1976, no clue!

First family trip 1999 Tony's Town Square. Mediocre food but we were too excited to care!

It was my first trip to DW (1986), DH had been there before, and we too at the Pinochio's Village Haus. I still think they had the best hot dogs ever! We went a couple of times, stayed off site and just ate counter service or restaurant near hotel. It wasn't until DD came when we stayed on site and went to our first sit down, it was the character breakfast at Contemporary before it was Chef Mickeys, it was called Contemporary Cafe. Mickey wasn't there then, it was Goofy, Pluto, Tigger, Chip, and Dale. That was in 1993. :goodvibes

way back in the early 70's-- i don't quite remember if this was the first meal but it was King Stephan's Banquet Hall (now CRT). i remember eating wonderful chocolate mint crepes for dessert--- i had a sweet tooth even back then and still love crepes (so thankful for kiosk in WS France). of course we always had to go to HDDR and we always stayed at the Poly so i'm sure Papeete Bay. i was only about 4 or 5 so i'll have to call my mom to see if she remembers anything else. she always planned to the tee for a wonderful vacation for us (mom, dad, sis and me)-- she should have been the original DISer ;) . great thread--thanks for the memories (no i am not singing) :teeth:

The first place? I can't remember. I was 7 years old, back in 1976. I do remember two places we ate during the trip, as they made quite an impression. I had dinner at Cinderella's Castle and was in complete awe. We also went to a luau at the Polynesian. Quite magical!

Can't remember back to 1971 and 1972. I don't remember a character meal.

Jump ahead quite a few years. It was DD#1's birthday. We had to fly into Tampa. We rented our van there and proceeded to Old Key West. That night we ate at Chef Mickey's. It was the first visit for the grandsons and they were in awe.

Columbia Harbour House and we still love the food there!
Yum! Yum! Food that makes your tummy happy!

I can't remember the first place I ate but I remember my first character meal...The Empress Lilly (January 1983...age 8) with ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo :donald: and :goofy: . I couldn't remember the name of the :boat: but a fellow diser refreshed my recollection. I wish Disney hadn't changed it. I would love to take DS for his first trip, but we'll celebrate his 2nd B-day at CP this June. pooh: :eeyore: :tigger:

My first character meal was also at The Empress Lily! Thank you for reminding me! It was during our 1st trip back in 1988! I only remember dining at 2 places that trip- The Empress Lily character breakfast and Alfredos in Epcot (dh & I had lunch and thought it was amazing!) Actually, now that I say that, we have been to WDW 3 times since and have never gone back to Alfredos. I distinctly remember it being the most expensive lunch we have ever had, it cost us $50.

Does anyone remember where the Empress Lily was located? I can't for the life of me remember.

my first ever bite of food was at the ASMo food court..lol, but my first sit down meal was at 1900 Park Fare...I had to go try the strawberry soup I had heard so much about!! It was soooooooooo good!!!

Considering I was seven at the time .... :rotfl:

I know we did Lotus Blossom Cafe at Epcot for sure. I vaguely remember counter service burgers at MGM, but don't remember where.

Yes, it is now Fulton's in DTD. We have pictures of me as a little kid eating there.

I have no idea, I was 9 at the time. The first place I remember was the Studio Catering Co for lunch in 1993. First sitdown meal was Cape May Buffet.

Tony's Town Square for a Character Breakfast back in 1978. First time I even had a Mickey pancake---it was three pancakes joined together with strawberries and a banana smile. (I guess it was before the parks had the special waffle makers)
:cool1:

June 20, 2000--Chef Mickey's. We didn't get to Orlando until 3PM (first trip, didn't know any better). DS, then 2, slept through the meal.

Crystal Palace in 1972, there weren't alot of resturants back then :)
