To all Canadians do you like flying or driving to WDW?

Have you considered using the Autotrain for your return? It's just me and the kids too and next trip I'll be driving for the first time. I think the excitement of getting to WDW will make the drive down ok but I'm dreading the drive back home.

Just wondering where can you get the Autotrain to when you are coming home? Where does it drop you off? What city & state? Just curious.. Sounds like an interesting option in the future for us. Thanks

We always fly out of Syracuse. The idea of travelling 22+ hours trapped in a car with my kids makes my head explode. Seriously though, the vehicle we would take for the drive is such a gas guzzler, and the flights out of Syracuse are so inexpensive, that it comes within a couple of hundred dollars to fly instead of drive. My sanity is certainly worth $200-$300!
I agree with you 100%.
With gas costs spiralling and the opportunity to fly cheap out of Buffalo or Syracuse or Rochester available, that $200-300 (you refer to)is money well spent.
Thats aside from the often ignored 2 days of wasted time if you drive (you could calculate the dollar value of 2 more days off work)

Just watch, as the price of gas spirals up, so will the price of flights. Someone told me they run on gas too. :teeth:

LOL that is hilarious Digs and so true as fuel prices go up flight prices will also they won't magically stay at the going rates not even SWA can make that magic although they sure try. Also teh way I look at it gas is gas you will almost always need it till teh auto manufaturers come out with a better alternative and no matter how hight th price goes I will still pay it as will alomost all of us.

Now you're confusing SWA and me. Oh, just wait, that wasn't weedkiller, it was institutional coffee. Same taste.

Problem is 50 bucks each way plus tax for a family of 5 adds up to way more than teh cost of driving and paying for gas.

ok, I am no further ahead picking between the I75 and I95 then I was before I read the thread, no actually I am even more confused.

CAA recommends the I95

I-75 is the easiest way to go especially if you get the book along the I-75 it makes this drive a breeze.

We have driven down to WDW the past 3 years and we love it. Sometimes it can be long because we drive straight through and it takes us about 23-25 hrs but it is better than stopping and then driving again the next day for our kids. We have driven I75 and this past March tried I77/I79 and we thought it was faster. The moutains weren't as bad as I thought and the weather was great. We as a family of 5 can't afford to fly. If we fly then we don't go and I can't handle that :rotfl2: :rotfl2: We might not be able to go in Feb or March 2007 because we move into a new house in Nov. and that is already killing me and am trying to budget to get to my favourite place   So driving is for us and the only way.
