TKTS in Times Square

We're thinking about trying out the TKTS booth in Times Square for our Saturday matinee tickets in mid-January. The question is...how long is the typical wait - should I allot 15 minutes...an hour? Or would you recommend the one down near the financial district?

We've never used them before and have no clue. I have been to their website.

I have never waited less than 20 minutes and it usually takes an hour or so to get through the line. I have never used the booth downtown though.

I used the dt booth last year and I think we waited a good 45 min. The booth wasn't open yet when we hopped in line, so I guess it just depends on when you catch it.

I heard the one downtown is faster. I've never used it, but I did walk by it one day and there was no one on line at the time.

Just double check, I remember hearing something about the Times Sq. being moved, so they could rebuild or fix it up. I could be wrong.

The TKTS booth is just about always crowded and a winding cue much like something out of WDW. Very, very long! And yes, the booth has been temporarily relocated to just outside the Marriot Marquis between 8th Avenue and B-way.

Be aware, bring CASH or travelers checks! They don't accept personal checks or credit cards!

You might also like to know that Saturday matinee shows go on sale on Friday mornings at the location downtown so that might get you better seats.
