TIW vs DCP discount

I have a niece that just started DCP this week. I have 2 trips planned do this fall - 1 in September & 1 after Thanksgiving. Niece will be staying in room with us and have her on couple of our ADRs
I know she gets a discount for meals and can be used for my meals when I am with her.
However I am also going in February with another 5 year old niece and not sure if other niece will be able to extend. Should I save my money and not do TIW or should I buy it? Have never had anyone I know in DCP

If your niece is getting the DCP discount, she is the one who must pay using her own credit card or cash. You cannot pay for the meal. My son is a Disney CM and sometimes he will pay for the meal and we reimburse him later. Most of the time we use our TIW card since we are getting adult beverages as well as a nice meal.

Anyone can pay for the meal. There cannot be alcohol on the ticket. Only merchandise must be paid by the CM. She can use her Magic Band to pay, so you can link it to the room if you want to pay. I found the CM discount sufficient when my daughter was on DCP. She even got a discount for Counter Service at resorts. I've done the math and can't get the TIW to work with my trips.

I have TiW and when my DD did the DCP I bought her a partner card. While her discount was the same except for the special deals they got (some 40% meals at certain restaurants for certain meals, which we used) having the TiW allowed her to buy alcoholic drinks and avoid CM restrictions. There were times of day that her DCP was blocked out at certain places like only for lunch, this made it she could go any times as long as day was not blocked out but those are very few. Pretty sure she would be blocked out during the Thanksgiving holiday, last year I think it was blocked out Nov 22-28.. ?

Considering you have another trip where she may not extend, it might be worth it. Will you be taking niece to character meals, because then it really adds up. Is there any chance you will be returning again after that where you could use it more. Do the math and see if it works.

Also assume you know only AP, FL and DVC can buy TiW.

And FL gets hosed. It costs more!!
Go figure.

We also have APs so we use that discount, but I'm miffed why the FL res costs more...
