My first day at WDW will be 9/30.

Will it be better if I wait till 10/1 to purchase it so it will not expire till 11/30 instead of 10/31?

I am unsure at this point. All we have planned is this trip and another one in December 2016.

All personal opinion - I'm not right, no one else is wrong....

NEVER buy a TIW at the end of a month. ALWAYS buy in the first three days of a month. We've followed this rule for about 12 years, resulting in that mysterious "13th month" :).

Oddly, if you EMAIL TIW, or call them.... they are more than willing to advise you on all this :). They just did so for US :). A similar situation involving two November trips, a year apart :).

I bought mine on Nov 27th last year at Guest Services inside the Studios - cast member said "Happy Holidays" and listed 1/31/2017 as expiration date :)

I bought our inside the MK at Guest Services on January 6, 2016 and it expires January 6, 2017. Officially the card is good for one year. So you might be unlucky like us and only get exactly 12 months.

The 13th month isn't mysterious. It's there by policy. Buying early in the month extends it to almost 14 months.

Actually, this is the policy - from their website:
General Policies:
  • The Tables in Wonderland discount is good for up to 10 people including the member, as long as everyone is on the same check, and the Tables in Wonderland member is paying the bill. If you have the Tables in Wonderland card, and your spouse or partner has the Tables in Wonderland secondary card, together you may cover up to 20 people (including the member and his/her spouse/partner). Both members must live at the same address and be 21 years of age or older.
    • Tables in Wonderland is not valid toward Chef’s Tables at Disney Signature Restaurants, Fantasmic Dinner Packages, Food and Wine Festival events, Candlelight Packages, or any other Special Dining Package Events.
    • The Tables in Wonderland discount applies only to food and beverage, not merchandise or photo imaging.
    • The Tables in Wonderland discount cannot be used in combination with any other discount.
    • Tables in Wonderland is valid for one year from date of purchase.
    • Tables in Wonderland does not offer renewal rates. Each year you will need to purchase a new membership.
    • For lost or stolen Tables in Wonderland cards, there is a $50 replacement fee.
    • Tables in Wonderland memberships are non-transferrable. The Tables in Wonderland member must be in attendance at the meal, present the Tables in Wonderland card, a driver’s license or state ID, and pay for the meal, in order to apply the discount.
    • Credit Cards that are used for payment must match the name on the Tables in Wonderland card and the state identification.

You could call it go back and that exp date could be fixed, though.

Yes, if you don't need it on 9/30 I would wait till 10/1 to purchase.

All of our TiW cards have been bought in the last 5 days of the month. Every time they expire at the end of the next month. Never 1 year from date of purchase. I'd venture to guess that if you got 100 TiW card holders in a room 99 of them would do the same, expire the end of the month after purchase, one year later.

Have had it for many years. Always got the "13" months, never expired one year from date purchased. ALL mine were bought in person at WDW.
