I have always done the dining plan in the past. Now that I am going to join the DVC, how does this TIWcard work? Which is a better deal? Thanks :yay:

TIW is a discount card you can buy if you have an annual pass. You only need one card per family, and I think it was $65 when we bought our last one (that's always subject to change though). It gives you 20% off at many WDW and resort restaurants. We found it matched our dining habits quite well. We have had the TIW (DDE) card for 3 years, and much prefer using that over the dining plan.

You can buy the card if you are a FL resident or AP/PAP holder. We got it last year when we got new PAPs, but probably won't get it until another year or two. It's good on our trip right now, but expires the end of June. I think the card now costs $75 for AP/PAP holders and $100 for FL residents.

That's 20% off food and beverage at accepted locations. If you like wine or other adult drinks, that can be a BIG savings. :thumbsup2

Does the annual pass have to be activated? We bought annual passes a few years back, but didn't ever have enough trips planned to justify activating them? Can we still get these TIW cards?

Yes, I would think your passes need to be active at the time of purchase. Otherwise someone could buy a voucher and use it for AP perks for years and years.
