Tivo is making us crazy..

First of all, I signed up online.. gave them a credit card number, I printed out the page.. and today they said that they cancelled the account and we need to reactivate.. what is up with that. It is not my credit card as that is an American Express Gold card, well used and paid for.. I do not get it.. and last night I was watching something on TV and all of a sudden it appeared in the corner of the screen with the name of movie or something and changed the station.. I feel like my TV is possessed.. OK, Dayna, Steve and PatinMN is this normal.. Help me..
 
Tivo does have some strange things about it, Marsha. Did you program it to record something during the time you were watching TV? Is this the Tivo where you can record 2 shows at once?

I had mine set to record a season of shows on Showtime, but when the season ended, it keeps flipping to that channel and says it's recording when it's really not.

Far as your American Express goes, I'd get on the phone and holler at them. Don't know why they'd cancel your account. It's not like American Express would deny the charges.

Any ideas Patrick or Dayna?

Now, I think I know why the other problem happened. If you allow it to, Tivo will "choose" programs for you based on what type of other programs you have chosen. I don't let Tivo "choose" for me. This is how you turn off that feature:

1. Get to the Tivo Screen.
2. Go to Messages and Setup.
3. Go to My Preferences.
4. Go to Tivo's Suggestions.
5. Now Pick the option that says: No, don't record Tivo's Suggestions. .

That should, hopefully, solve that problem. Let me know if it doesn't. :D

thanks Dayna.. we fixed that. now we are on hold with them...I am getting very annoyed.. Yikes...

I just used up my battery on my cell phone trying to fix this. I need to upgrade my plan on my cell phone ala Glo.. then I am going to be calling you and figuring this out.. between you, Pat and Steve.. this thing will be working right or I will go down trying.. lolololol
