Has anyone placed their ownership interest in a trust--revocable or irrevocable? My title is currently held with a parents as tenants in common (joint tenancy would have been better). Since we live don't live in Florida and neither will be around in 2057 when ownership reverts back to Disney, want to make provisions now for the future. If you live out of state and have an interest in real property in Florida, I hear it is a pain to probate a will that way. I was told to place the timeshare interest in a trust with current owners listed as trustee or beneficiary. Trustees can be added as time passes, but once the new deed is titled as a trust being the owner, you never have to go to probate in Florida.
I called membership administration and they said many properties are titled as a trust. They said an attorney has to set it up, new title will be drawn up and it would cost about $350 (excluding the attorney fees to set up the trust which is done on your own).
If any other DVC members have done this and can offer advice, it would be appreciated.
