Belle (9) leaves for a week of horse camp in a couple weeks, so I'm looking for ideas to put in a care package to mail out to her. Some that I already have are: A "fancy" lipgloss (I don't generally allow them, should be a treat), a white t-shirt and fabric marker(s), autograph book and snazzy pen,a deck of cards (regular or Uno or something), and a fancy light up key chain. No food is allowed.

Any suggestions? Aside from avoiding food, I'd like to avoid anything electronic. I plan to put stationary and a disposable camera in her regular luggage. Thanks for your help!

May I suggest you address and stamp the envelopes if you want mail...LOL make sure you write down addresses with siblings names, grandparents, and friends.

Maybe a journal if she likes to write so she can wrie down her memories.

Send it now, so it gets to her camp. Getting something the first day is a real treat.

This is my daughters last year of camp, Camp Matawa (YMCA) near our home, but yet far enough away. Sending a box in Wisconsin can take a week and then she might not get it, so I have already sent my box and she don't leave until the 18th day of July.

The other day the counselor's and the head person left a song message encrypted to me about receiving fun suprises in the mail, so I know at least it is there.

I big no, no is candy, but we still send pixie sticks.

I like the journal idea, but any type of food is a definite NO--there are bears and stuff in the area (Adirondacks), and I would be a wreck sending it, even if they swilled it down the first day! I definitely plan to send it out in ~ a week, which is why I was looking for suggestions now. She'll be about an hour from home (as you said, OhMari, close enough but not too close), and she's going the week of 7/18 as well.

IN the mean time, I have Buzz going to day camp next week, and the following week they have a local "arts" camp that's in the mornings, so I'm trying to think one step ahead all the time!
