We are so tired of having to wait for AP discounts that we booked Hotel Royal Plaza for $50.00 a night. We have been going to WDW at least twice every year for quite a few years, and I am fed up with waiting for discounts. We have to travel from Michigan so this is not a cheap trip, and without discounts we just cannot stay on Disney property. I think it is such a shame that they give discounts out to only certain groups while the core Disney visitors that come back year after year our left out. Even if they give discounts now we are staying at Royal Plaza, since Disney can't seem to do the right thing for there AP holders. We are going in 5 weeks and were just fed up with waiting. We have always stayed on-site before so this will be our first time offsite. DISNEY NEEDS TO DO BETTER FOR THERE AP HOLDERS, IF YOUR GOING TO GIVE DISCOUNTS THEY SHOULD JUST DO IT.

I agree -- you should put your complaints in a letter and mail it off. Maybe if they heard this enough they will do better next year for AP holders. Glad you worked out a compromise, maybe something will still come through.

Even with the best discounts you won't even get a value resort for $50. Royal Plaza is at least equal to a moderate.
Anyone looking for the best rates should be looking offsite.

Someone in a post above just got an e-mail offer for the All Stars for $49 a night 8.24-10.1. That is pretty cheap! We went with Marriott DD for $20.03 a night-that's really cheap. The last two nights we have WL booked but I am hoping for an AP rate.

Heh. I booked 6 nights at Portofino Bay Resort since there were no Florida Resident codes for Disney. Then the Florida Resident codes came out and I caved in and changed a lot of my vacation to the $109 AKL rate. I'm sure %99 of people making reservations off-site now will do the same once the codes come out.

I am with you Ron. I was so irritated, I booked using hotwire so that I couldn't change my mind and break down and switch to a Disney hotel. I ended up with the Swan for $79 a night. YAHOO. We were thinking about adding an extra 2 nights if there are any AP rates at AKL or CS but the more I think about Disney ignoring a very loyal client base like their AP holders, the more I think I am going to either not spend the 2 extra days there or book off site. I wrote to Disney after I booked using hotwire and got some canned email that did not even pertain to my letter.

I am patiently waiting for the AP rates too ... but for November. I think I may cave in and book at the Radisson Resort Parkway for $68. Anyone stay here?

Maggie

Have you checked out the offer for the Hotel Royal on the travelzoo.com website ? You can get a deluxe tower room that can slepp 5 people for $65, the $ 7 per night resort fee is waived, and if you buy 3 nights the fourth night is free... only catch is the offer ends July 30. I took advantage of this offer as I also have become impatient with Disney's reluctance to release AP rates...

Please excuse my inability to read. I just noticed you were planning a December trip, and that offer I told you about ends October 16.. SORRY !! But please keep an eye on that travelzoo site, I've seen some pretty good deals on it lately...
Hope you have a great trip !!

Colt, thank you for pointing out that special at the Hotel Royal Plaza. We have an existing reservation that we made through hotels.com. This offer saves us an additional $120 over that.

Would you know if we'd have trouble switching our reservation over to this offer?

Thanks.

I guess that depends on the cancellation policy for hotels.com, you may forfeit a "reservation fee". As for the Hotel Royal deal, it was the same deal about 1 1/2 months ago except it was $ 67 ( I THINK ) per night, then has now reappeared at the $ 65 rate. If for some reason you miss out on this offer, keep an eye on travelzoo and this offer just might repeat itself again soon..
