Ok I know there are sites that give reccommended tips for servers but I am fighting with DW over the totals. Tell if I am right or wrong for the head server total for 4 people on a 4 day criuse will be around 60 - 75 dollars depending on the service. assistant server 44- 50, head server 16-20 and the stateroom 60-75. If service is good we also intend on giving out phone cards also.

Can anyone help settle this question once and for all. I figure about 200 to 250 for the trip.

Thanks

You're right on -- however you said "head server" twice but I assume you mean your main waiter and then the head dining room person. Your main waiter gets the bigger amount and the dining room person (who you hardly ever see) gets the smaller amount.

OOPS my fingers seem to do the walkin by them selves. I did mean head waiter and main waiter. Just trying to get a handle on the final cash budget. Would love to get awesome treatment and service and I would definately reflect that in the tip. If they do a great job than they deserve a bigger tip.
I also don't want to insult them.

You are correct...except that you have a server, an assistant server, and a head server. The head server is like a maitre'd. He gets the smaller amount.

Please remember that these people essentially work for tips. They get room & board from DCL, but very little in the way of salary. I know how hard it hit my server one time that a table on the previous cruise had "stiffed" him. He had been counting on that money for his kid's Christmas as well as an apartment payment. Yes, the tip amount adds up...but it is a relatively small part of the cruise cost, and these people really work hard for it.

Don't get me wrong I totally agree with you and I will tip. Like I said before trying to get a handle on cash budget and calm DW down. The clocks ticking ever so close and we are all getting a little nervy. Hopefully by stepping onboard will wash all that away.

Not sure if you've seen this before or not, but it might be helpful to you. Someone wrote a "Cruise Tip" calculator with the suggested tip amounts from all the major cruise lines. You simply type in the length of your cruise, and how many people, and it will calculate the tips for the various staff, for you. Here's the link, if you're interested in checking it out:

P.S. Don't forget to click on "Disney" after you've entered in how many people, and how many days.

Seaspray thank you ever so much. Someone smack me in the back of the head. That link was very good. Right where I had figured and probably a little lower than what I will give.
