Tips on split stay

We have had to change our reservations so many times now my head is spinning! I think our latest plans are set in stone, but it requires us to go the Tuesday after Thanksgiving and split our stay between WL and Boardwalk Inn. We have to switch resorts on Saturday. Any tips on doing this the easiest way? We are using Magical Express so we are at the mercy of Disney. ;)

We're splitting our stay this December for the first time, as well.

My understanding is that bell services will transfer your luggage between resorts. You'll still need to check out of original resort and check into the next resort, but your luggage will be transferred.

Probably a good idea to check with the concierge desk after you check into your first resort to find out exactly how this works. That's my plan! :)

I wondered the same thing? How is it done with magical express? Do you leave your luggage and go to the park? Then check in at the new resort?

I really want to know also.

We did our first split stay last week. We had our own car so it was easy but you can always use a cab. We checked out of the YC at 11 and drove to the Poly. They couldnt assign us a room so bell services kept our bags and we hit MK. Around 3 we called the number they gave us and they told us our room number....once we arrived at the room we called bell services and they bags were delivered in 5 minutes.

It was very easy

I have done a split stay before. 2 days at POR then 5 days at Old Key West. We simply checked out of POR in the am and went straight to OKW and checked in. We could not get into the room.....but new ID cards were made and our room was assigned. We had a rental car. I dont know if you would use Magical Express or just hop on to a bus to a park, get off and get on a bus that goes back to your new hotel. I think you need tickets to get on ME. You should have tickets to use from the airport to Disney, then Disney back to the airport...

The major problem we had was the luggage....We had 2 rooms at POR for 6 people....alot of bags... I was told to leave a tip under one of the bags....
I left $40 for them........We thought they would take the bags to our room at OKW. Well, we went to our new room after a long day at MK. We got into the room around 11:00- no luggage. I called the front desk, they would not deliver it until we were there.....the bell hops had gone home for the day.....so the night manager had to bring it...(around 12:30am)...I told him I already gave someone a $40 tip to deliver it to our room.....I gave him $10....He was understanding......
If at all possible I would take my bags myself, have them hold them at the new hotel. Go pick the bags up later in the day and take them to your room.
Good Luck

We do split stays nearly every time we go to WDW -- the next time will be in March, between Poly and BWI.

This is how I do it: take ME from the airport to the first resort as always. The last morning of the first resort, call bell services and have them pick up your bags. Tell them you are switching to the second resort and give them a tip. They will put tags on the bags with the name of your second resort and your name.

Go to whatever park you want to that day using regular WDW bus, monorail or boat service. When you are ready to leave, but after 3 or so, take the WDW bus, monorail or boat to your second hotel and check in. When you get into your room call bell services again and tell them your luggage was transferred from the first resort. Tip the people who bring that luggage to your room.

At the end of the stay there, take ME back to the airport. Enjoy!
