Tips on bringing food back to hotel room

this will be my first trip since I was 2! We are staying on site and planning to get early start to the parks then head back to room at 7 or 8 after dinner. We have two kids under five so we want them to be able to calm down and relax before going to bed. That doesn't mean we won't be hungry while they are asleep! Any suggestions on what food or leftovers we can bring back to room and store in fridge or room temperature? I checked and there's no microwave available where we are staying (contemporary).

Via Napoli in Epcot has to-go boxes. I think they have a to-go window too, but I haven't heard good things about it. Also, you can get food at Contempo Cafe and bring it back to your room. There's also pizza delivery and possibly room service. You can buy groceries yourself or get them delivered via Garden Grocer or Amazon. Also, the gift shop/general store at the Contemporary has some food for the time shares. It's like a smaller selection of things than a convenience store would have, but they do have milk, cheese, eggs, yogurt, lunch meat, dry goods, etc. The prices are a little high, but it's convenient. You wouldn't be able to heat up anything in the room though, and the freezers in the fridges are suspicious. I think the quick service at the hotels have microwaves you could use.

CR has awesome food amenities, including an awesome grab-n-go--you can easily stock up there on milk, cereal, bread, snacks, etc. We stayed at CSR last month and visited CR and were shocked at how well the shop was stocked. It's also easy to pop down and bring items up from Contempo Cafe, and there's 24-hour room service, too. Also, you can use the microwave and toaster at Contempo Cafe. You really won't need to bring back leftovers from anywhere--much less from one of the parks.

Thanks, these are great tips. I didn't know that about the microwave being available at contempo cafe. Funny how I didn't even consider room service or pizza delivery. I would probably pay out of pocket instead of using two TS on them. Does anyone have experience with their room service and or pizza delivery?

It's been a few years, but I've done the pizza delivery before. It took a while when we ordered one, so you shouldn't be starving when you order it. I bet you could order it even before you got back to your hotel room.

I really like the QS at Contemporary Cafe, they usually have several more "grown up" options and the quality is good for WDW quick service.

I would not worry about reheating food. The CS at the CR is good, so one of you can grab your food while the other is with the children. No matter which resort we stay, at least once someone heads over to the cafe for food to bring back to the room.

Pretty much anywhere will provide you with a to-go lid or other option if you ask. (We are a big group of meal-transporters... Oftentimes even within the parks if half of the group wants to eat someplace and half somewhere else.)

Carry zipper bags with you in the parks. They can easily fit into a side pocket in the bag I'm sure you will be traveling with :). Animal Kingdom - get the half chicken, eat the sides and take the chicken with you. At Epcot, get the pot stickers and/or egg rolls in China (Lotus Blossom Café) and take packets of sauces with you.

Any type of chicken will "keep" during the day. Also, take a plastic grocery bag with you (also in your travel bag) to carry the food items. And - most importantly - take napkins back with you.

Can you tell I've done this many times just to unwind in the resort room so I don't have to deal with going anywhere once I'm there?
