Tips I got from the Podcast

I got back about 10 days ago from a wonderful, yet exhausted trip to the world with my family (husband, and two kids, 5 year old with Apsperger's and my baby who turned 3 while we were there). We stayed off site at Bonnet Creek and had a great time. During the week there were definately a few tricks and tips that I used that I got from the podcast.

1) Wear a vizor. I forgot a hat for myself. The first day was hot, just about 90 degrees. I went to buy a hat and remembered Corey's tip about getting a vizor so the heat can leave your body. When we were in line for TSM, Mr. Potato Head cracked that I lost the top of my hat. :rotfl:

2) Publix fried chicken. After our first day at the parks, my kids face planted in their bed early and DH and I were left to figure out dinner. I told him how Kevin and John talk about the fried chicken all the time, so he went to buy our groceries and came home with the chicken, mac & cheese and mashed potatoes. It was delicious and we had enough for us to have it for lunch two more times.

3) Parking at MK - I know Pete scoffed when Kathy (or was it Theresa?) reported on the new parking lot changes at the MK, but I was glad to have the information before hand. Not that it was confusing, but it helped to know what was going on.

4) Avoiding meltdowns for my son - I thought back to Ben's podcast a lot that week, especially the first day when after 4 hours in MK my oldest started melting down. We got him home and in the pool and he was a much happier kid. From that point on, we only spent 3-4 hours in the parks and then back to the resort for nap/lunch pool.

Those are just some of things that come to the top of my mind. So thanks podcast team! You really do help us more than you know!

Anyone want to add some of the tips they learned?

Sandy, It sounds like you had a wonderful trip, and like so many of us, the Podcast tips/advice made a difference. :goodvibes

Where is the drooling icon? I too tried Publix fried chicken based on Kevin's raving about it. YUM!

I've also tried Delish NY Bakery, which is definitely delish. :)

anything Bonnet Creek specific?

Our family is visiting BC for the first time in April.

Love it. Loved the space, loved the pools. Ask fpr an Epcot view, I was in building three and sat and watched Illuminations from my balcony every night.

Only complaint was the food, we ordered some nachos and a ceaser salad, it took 45 minutes and we got cheese wiz and prepackaged salad.

Bodyglide on the feet. I've always had trouble with blisters but not anymore. We all used it on our last 2 trips and will do so again when we leave in 16 days!

Thanks guys! :thumbsup2

The best tip I've gotten is to slow down and relax......take the time to look around

Ooh, this is fun! I actually just moved to Orlando, so I've been busy taking LOTS of recommendations from the team...

Publix fried chicken -- I knew before I got here this was going to be my first meal in Florida. I didn't know that my trip down here was going to be one disaster after the next, resulting in my being delayed about 10 hours on arrival and not eating a thing all day. But by 10pm, my dog and I were sitting in my empty apartment absolutely DEVOURING a bucket of chicken. And it was DELICIOUS!

Delish -- As a NYC girl, I was skeptical but optimistic. I was jonesing for a bagel and made the trek out there -- pretty good!

Celebration Town Tavern -- well, I live in Celebration so I probably would have tried it anyway, but this was my first dining experience in town. Definitely a fun place -- the prime rib sandwich is delicious! They have outdoor seating and live music some nights...a great atmosphere.

Lake Eola -- not super close to my house, but I was looking for a fun place to bring my dog and I decided to check it out. Really lovely, and the Farmer's Market kept my mouth and wallet quite busy.

AMC Dine-In Theater -- oh, I loved this! I don't want to see a movie any other way from now on. I would definitely do this on a Disney vacation, perfect for a night when the parks are closed but you're still looking for something kind of low-key to do.

Thanks, team -- keep the suggestions coming!
