We've gone to WDW for more than a decade now and learn new things every trip. Here are a few I am proud to contribute for the summer traveler:
1. ponchos are a MUST. buy 2/$1 at DollarTree and get at least 2 per person so you can refresh midway in your trip. they are so easy to fold up and store yet will allow to you carry on no matter what the weather. And it POURED each day we were there June 20-27. also during Fantasmic at DHS.
2. the glow jewelry (again 2 or 4 for $1 at DollarTree) are fun to pack and pull out for your evenings at the parks. buy the bracelet size because they pack easier in a backpak. get ready at dusk and you have some neat accessories at a fraction of the park's cost.
3. bring your own plastic hangers from home. not only will they allow the wrinkles to come out of your smashed clothing, but you can dry a load of wash in only one dryer ($2) and when some items come out a bit damp--just hang them up and overnight they'll be dry
3. drink ice water with lemon at all your sit downs and reserve the soda/tea for refillable mugs at the resort. honestly, we saved an average of $13 per meal and felt very hydrated throughout the trip. This was a new item for us this year
4. pack trail mix or dry snacks in your carryone luggage so you'll have something to munch on and avoid paying the $2+ the airlines charge for a 79 cent bag of chips.
5. pack an empty water bottle per person and fill it at the airport for carryon, then also in the parks at the eateries for sipping during the day. at $2 per water bottle, those charges can add up quickly, and most of the water fountains have warm water at best.
6. RUN don't walk each time you get in a park for your first fastpass choice. then continue to get fastpasses as quickly as you can as indicated on the ticket. at the end of the day you'll be SO glad you did this for the very popular rides (Toy Story Mania is wildly popular right now, so FP is a must).
7. finally, don't be afraid to ask at the sit down restaurants if they will adjust an entree or particular dish to your preference. if you want a fire-grilled pizza at Mama Melrose, but don't want the gorgonzola, ask for mozzerella and chicken, for example. Most places will more than accomodate your preference for ingredients that they have listed for their dishes.
Good Luck and Good Night :surfweb: :happytv: :cool1: :cutie:

Thank you for the tips. I never would've thought of the empty water bottle in the airport. Man that makes me feel like ahhh duh, lol.

Yes, agree with the empty bottle for the airport thing. Duh, don't know why I didn't think of it before. That is usually the first thing I do after Security is spend $5 for two bottles of water!!!

Every little bit helps!
