tips for someone with heart trouble

I'm planning an "all girls" trip to WDW in August. I invited one of my friends, who I've always wanted to go with since she is about as crazy (or maybe crazier) about Disney as I am.

I asked her and she is concerned about going in August because her heart isn't that strong. She had valve replacement surgery about six years ago. How could I help convince her so she can go? I won't push it, because I don't want her to outdo herself.

We are staying at OKW and the car will be right outside so we can drive to the parks. How close can I get to the Magic Kingdom to drop her off?

I will be taking my two daughters so there will be lots of swimming too. I thought we'd alternate park days and pool days with a trip to Blizzard Beach as well.

Feel free to add any other tips.

My DH has chronic heart-lung disease and we find that he can enjoy the parks in short bursts. Heat and humidity are very difficult for him to endure, so anything we do outside in the summer takes place early or late in the day. At WDW we have to make time for naps--resting in THe hall of Presidents won't do it. DH has to be able to lay down and sleep to get re-energized. We dont' go fast and we don't expect to get a lot accomplished, but our trips are enjoyable. I think you need to be very mindful of your friend's energy level and her need for rest, and be willing to accomodate someone who may not be able to keep up with you.

If she has a handicap hang tag bring it along. Also, you might want to discuss with her the possibility of renting an ECV, especially from off-site.

Thanks. I will read the FAQ thread. I also read the link on the GAC thread about GAC cards, and I'm going to ask her if she would be interested in getting one. I'm not sure if she has ever had one on past trips. But with the heat, it could come in handy and I'm sure she would qualify for it.
