My wife will be 3 months into her pregnancy when we go on June 1st. Obviously there is a big difference between someone who is 3 months pregnant to someone who is 6-8 months. This is our first child and I'm freaking out a bit. My wife is a bit more calm than I am. What are we to expect? WOMEN OUT THERE, I NEED YOUR HELP!!!!!!!!!!!

Congratulations to you and your wife! :cool1: I went only one time to Disney, while expecting...for my third child and I was two months along. This was the trip that I felt I saw every bathroom in every land in the Kingdom and in every country in the World! :p Between all-day sickness and potty breaks (if not for me, then at least for my two DSs), it did change up our normal routine a bit. But not enough, to not do it again! My advice..., just take it a little easier than normal, get her to put her feet up and relax a little more, drink lots of water especially since you're going in June (but be prepared for those potty breaks :rolleyes2 ), eat light and often, check out some more of the laid back grown-up activities (since future trips will be all out the kiddos), and enjoy people watching those with babies...that'll be you guys soon!
As for rides, I used extreme caution and did nothing that had a warning for expectant mothers and used my own judgement on others. Others tell of hitting most rides and doing fine, but after long 13 years with no kids, (and then 3 in 6 1/2 years!), I was taking NO chances with my baby! Worked out fine, because while hubby took the boys on those rides, I rested up!
Best wishes for a magical trip and a wonderful pregnancy and birth!

Three months should be a great time to go. She should be feeling better, if she had morning sickness. Enter that second trimester is supposed to be when you feel best. Her uterus should begin lifting off of her bladder a little by then(at least until the baby gets bigger. :thumbsup2 ) so she may actually not have to have as many bathroom breaks....maybe. ;) Take an afternoon break so she can nap, rest often, most important, she should ALWAYS be carrying a bottle of water, and refilling it at every few water fountains, or you need to be buying MANY bottles a day for her. She should ALWAYS be drinking...always! When I went at 5 months pregnant, I brought a bottle in the morning and I refilled it at every water fountain that had cold water.(a tip, some of them have COLD water!) Also, get her a pair of CROCS. That will help with her back/feet/legs. I never had CROCS before during my pregnancys, I can't wait to try them while pregnnat...well, I can wait. Hopefully a couple years. :thumbsup2 Have fun!!!

I also wouldn't do rides with warnings. Except I rode the safari, been on bumpy roads before ;) and after having ridden Kali, I would now do that pregnant as well. It's less bumpy than safari and the "water fall" is only slightly bigger than POTC.

I went to WDW when I was 6 month pregnant. As long as you go at a slower pace, drink lots of water and don't go on any rides that you feel jerk you around a bit she will be fine. I must add that I did get very swollen from the heat :sunny: (September). I was not swollen at all before the trip. Each night when I got back to the room my husband would fill the bag that came in the ice bucket and I would prop my feet on pillows and let the ice do it's thing. My ankles were normal every morning and 3 times larger every evening. I would suggest bringing an ice pack from home just in case. Have a wonderful trip.

Can any other women confirm if they rode the safari while pregnant? I will be 5 months when I am at AK and I was bummed to see the warning for expectant mothers for this ride. I really wanted to ride with my DD(3).

Will the CM say anything to me if I do go on the ride? I've been on it before and don't remember it being that rough. Not like a roller coaster, which of course I won't be going on.

I was there at two months along and I was just tired but other than that nothing else. She will need to rest and drink lots of water. There are several rides she can't ride but they are the thrill rides, the safari, and indy cars.

Make sure you get some mouse ears for the baby.

I went to Disneyland at about 6 months pregnant with my second child. I second the advice above to have her drink lots of water and to take breaks. I also know that when I was pregnant, whenever I got hungry (which was often!), I needed food right then and there, so carrying some healthy snacks is a good idea!

:surfweb: I saw your post and I understand exactly! :scared1: My wife is currently 16 weeks along and I am freaking out about everything. Check out this thread, I got alot of helpful answers.

Double Pregnant at Disney

Thanks for all the replies!!! I agree with some of you about the rides. I won't let her take a chance on them if they have a warning. More Fast Passes for me. :cool1: She's getting more spending money so that she could have a good time at the shops while I get on the thrill rides. She's :) about that. It helps to keep her cool as well.

I will be 4+ months pregnant when I go in May and DH is excited about the extra Fast Pass too.

Congrats to you and your wife, what an exciting time and then adding Disney on top is fabulous.

I will be 15/16 weeks on our Star Wars Weekend Trip, then 25 weeks for my "girls weekend" trip and 32 weeks for our family vacation in September. Considering bumping that last one up a bit but so far, those dates work for the boys school calendar, it's a shorter trip and my doctor has said barring any complications, I'm fine to travel then so we are in "wait and see" mode. After seeing how the first trips go I will make a decision on that last one. ;)

I just saw my doctor yesterday and had a conversation about what to do for our May trip since I won't see her again untill a few days after we get back. Her biggest warning was to stay hydrated. She and her family visit WDW yearly so she's familiar with rides as well. We discussed the rides and her comment was that I was fine to ride anything that my tummy didn't prevent the safety harness or lap bar from working properly (this is my 3rd so I'm already popping out) with the exceptions of Mission Space, Rock'n Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror. Other than that, she felt I'd be fine. This trip will by my mother and I taking my kids and the only rides with warnings they will want to do that my Mom won't do with them are Splash, Thunder and Kali. I asked specifically about those and the safari and she said all were fine for May. Thunder would be out for sure on the other trips but on this one, baby is so small and well protected that I would be ok at 15 weeks. She approved Splash, Kali and the safari for all 3 trips unless of course some sort of complication like placenta previa came about before then but with a normal, healthy pregnancy she felt OK with those. Some women play it safe and ride NOTHING with a warning, others ride everything. Her comment was that those warnings are there to cover Disney's butt in most cases considering that even some very tame rides have warnings. I would recommend having your wife talk to her doctor. You'll both feel better getting a "personalized" recommendation based on her health and pregnancy. :)

On the safari in particular...I've seen the ride attendants recommend that expectant Mom's ride in the front row as it is less bumpy but even with 2 very very pregnant moms we've seen ride it, they didn't STOP you from riding it, just recommended you sit up front.

Have a great trip and congrats!!!

I have been to Disney while pregnant with both our boys - still pregnant with the second. ;) I find it to be more exciting while I am pregnant than any other time we go. I am more relaxed and see more of the parks rather than my normal trips to Disney - running from one attraction to the other.

Understand that you will need to take everything a bit slower. Most of the rides your wife can go on, just not the thrill rides (of course). I would suggest heading back to the room midday to rest or maybe hit the pool - avoid being in the parks during the heat of the day. I completely agree with someones post early to take healthy snacks into the park with you and a bottle of water - so you will probably want a backpack. I just know when I was three months a long, fruit and snack bars always sounded good - especially in warmer weather since I lost my appetite for anything 'big' in the heat.

Enjoy this trip since it may be your last alone for a while!!!

And imadjnasn, I went on the Safari this past trip when I was pregnant and it didn't bother me at all. The ride is a little bumpy but I have been in car rides MUCH worse. ;)

Well technically I have been there pg twice, but the 1st time the baby was concieved there early in our trip so I was only a few days pg and didn't know until I got home.

The second time I was 6 months and things were fine. I did ride the Safari ride with no problems but I knew what to expect because I had rode it several times. I say go and have a great time and just take some time to rest when she needs it, but if you plan to ride some rides that she can't than she will have time to rest than also.

Extra spending money is always a plus!! Get lots of belly pics for the scrapbook babies first trip to disney.

I rode the safari ride when I was 34 weeks pregnant with dd2. It was really no more bumpy than the back seat of our old SUV. Have fun and congrats on your babe! :wizard:

My best advice is water, water, water! Drink tons. Take time for a nap or a swim in the afternoon. The pool feels awesome.

Good info about Safari,

I'm wondering........a friend of mine is going to WDW mid-May and she will be six months pregnant, do you guys think she would be ok to ride Dumbo, Magic Carpets of Aladdin and the flying dinosaur ride at AK? -- Her one little boy is five and I thought maybe she could take him on these rides while her DH takes their two older kids on other rides like Dinosaur and Primevil Whirl.

The only problem she could have is if she has motion sickness other than that no problems.

I rode all three with my four year old with no problem and I was about 6 months pg.

Dumbo, Magic Carpets of Aladdin and the flying dinosaur ride at AK are basically all the same ride with different theming. So, if she rides one and doesn't have a problem, she should have no problems on the others.
