Tips For Getting In Shape...?

I'm looking for some suggestions...

Over the winter, I sort of got a little... soft.

I am in no way overweight (5'7", 140lbs.), or really even in need of losing any weight. I'm just trying to "tighten up" so to speak.

I'm planning on starting some sort of exercise routine next week. This week, I am focusing on changing my eating habits, which I have stuck to. I try to stick to 1500 calories a day.

I've cut out most carbs... trying to have only one serving a day of bread, pasta, etc., if that. (Like today, I haven't had one and won't.) I'm loading up on fruits and veggies, and sticking to protein (chicken, mostly) for energy. I let myself have ONE 200 calorie or less snack a day (I bought sugar-free Popcicles, Fudge bars, and Skinny Cow desserts.) I also let myself have ONE "bad" dinner a week (on Saturdays, with DH).

Am I on the right track?

I'm thinking of adding jogging (about 15-20 minutes), and bike riding (the same amount) to my schedule (4-5 days a week), along with some basic weight training (light weight lifting). It's really all my busy schedule will allow (I work 60+ hours a week).

If I stick to this, how long does it take to see results? I'm really happy doing this... I feel totally healthy having started eating better!

Any other tips, suggestions are appreciated!

Considering you are no where near overweight and like you said your time is precious I would suggest using a rowing machine as it will give you cardio and definition...Back when I was young I would use the rowing machine to get a head start on my football weight training. You can get a decent one starting at $150 + and a great one starting at $300 + . The air resistant rowing machines are slightly more efficient and have a longer life than the hydraulic machines.

But doing what your doing (biking, jogging and weight) will give you the same results as a rowing machine especially if you maintain a regular schedule you will start to feel the difference almost immediately and after 3 months of routine you should be in a really good place....

I just wanted to suggest the rowing machine to save you some time so that way you'd have more to spend on the DIS :thumbsup2

I bought a rebounder earlier this year to jog in place on. Now I can no longer use bad weather as an excuse not to exercise.

You're on the right track. Be sure to include some flexiblity/stretching in your exercise routine as well. :cutie:
