Hello everyone!

I apologize in advance if this is covered somewhere in this forum--I plan to browse after I post but just wanted to get something out there.

I'm currently a lapsed WW lifetime member--I lost 50+ about 9 years ago, maintained for a year, got pregnant and well, there 'ya go. My excuse for my weight gain is now 7 and I feel like I'm finally committed to getting things back off.

I'm down 21 pounds. I had one little lapse for 3 weeks when my mother had a massive stoke and I was by her bedside constantly. But I lost the weight I gained there in 2 weeks and continued to lose.

I'm off to 10 days at WDW Tuesday and am looking for some sort of balance between completely being off plan and they way I do it now. Do others actually try to journal and count points on their vacations? I'm so precise about my journalling, I'm afraid I'd just get frustrated at the lack of nutritional information. Any stratgegies for just eating "better" yet enjoying vacation?

I'm on the quick service dining plan staying at POP, and expect to have 4-6 table service meals, too. I'm more worried about the counter service meals than the table service meals.

TIA!

I think it's very hard to journal at Disney, however on our last two trips I actually LOST weight!! I wore a pedometer and averaged 8 miles/day. Obviously those weren't aerobic but I'm convinced it was the walking that led to the weight loss. Also my DH and I shared meals at QS locations or my DD and I shared. We had characters breakfasts everyday then shared lunch but usually did not share dinner. There are also a lot of healthily choices for sides I thought. have a great trip. Let us know how it goes!

Hi there!

For me, I would not journal formally. However, I am sure you run a mental list of 'where you are at.' I would pick a few special splurges like a dessert you are curious about or a glass of wine at a nice TS. Something to look forward to and savor each day so you do not feel deprived.

Fitgirl is right you will be walking a ton! But what if you worked in a run or a quiet walk by yourself a few times too? Just a little extra boost and a unique way to experience where you are staying. Is there a fitness center? Even walking the pool in the shallow end or treading water in the pool for 20 minutes or so to just get a little calorie burn boost.

I hope you have a great vacation! I am about to head off on family vacation and this is a pep talk for myself too!

If you are an eTools user and have an iPhone, use the WW app. Easy as pie to track your ppvs and your activity earned.

I LOVE the WW iPhone app. The only thing I wish they had was a bar-code scanner. I also use mynetdiary app on iPhone, just out of curiosity, I like to see how many calories Im consuming too. Anyway, that app has a cool scanner thingy, it scans the bar code from let's say, a WW frozen dinner, and automatically records the nutritional information. Really cool!

Found the app, I didn't reliaze it was a separate from the WW Mobile, thanks again!

OP...I apologize, I haven't tried WW at WDW, but I did want to say, even without dieting, I've always lost weight on our trips!

First of all....apps are great and all that, but if you don't know portions and ingredients it will be hard to keep track of points regardless.

My first suggestions is to share, share, share. Sometimes just a bite or two of a treat is enough.

Second suggestion.....skip buffets if possible. The temptation to "get your money's worth" or try it all is too great.

Third suggestion... Don't let yourself get too hungry. It is harder to make good food decisions when you are ravenous. Carry around some healthy snacks like 100 cal pack nuts to keep from getting too hungry.

Fourth..... Drink, drink, drink.....water that is! Thirst can disguise itself as hunger.

Lastly.....don't be afraid to order things "customized". Order buger with no roll and double veggies plus a kids side like grapes or apple instead of fries. Ask for things that might not be on the posted menu like veggie burgers, side salads, etc. you will find that many CS places will be more than happy to help...especially if you aren't there at peak times.

I will say that I have never once LOST weight at Disney no matter how much I walk or how hard I try. But what is most important is that the day I returned...that very day, I got right back on plan, weighing, measuring and tracking.

Enjoy your trip! ..........P
