Tippping

I am usually a cheapo and at times feel like tipping in the states is nickeling and diming... this coming from some one who lives in Europe. BUT where I gladly tip is Bell Services on checkout. We usually drive so we bring our bags from the car ourselves in many trips.. No big deal.

On check-out we take the DME as have so much luggage,, 2 suitcases per person plus carry-on.. Basically one large cart FULL.... They have a whole cart for us when they store our bags for our late pick-up.... Here I LOVE Bellservices as in September heat lugging many trips to bellservices with my own bags would be HELL. I gladly pay for this service I am getting something valuable in return.

Housekeeping $2 pp/pn
Valet $3-$5 when they take and when they bring the car. Note always tip the valet when they take your car if you want your car treated nicely.
Bell services $2 per bag
Waitress/ bartender 20%-25% usually 15% for buffets or not so good service.

This reminds me of years ago, when my DH was active duty in the Marine Corps. At the commissary, the baggers work for tips only! So, they bag your groceries, and then push the cart to your car & help load your groceries into your trunk, so we always tipped a few dollars. The service was so nice to have, especially when shopping with a baby! That's unusual, though, but some grocery stores still have folks that will help you (here at home, Safeway is required to ask if you need help to your car, which I don't, but some elderly folks may appreciate the help).

Oh yeah I always try to tip generously at the commissary (which is our main grocery store) because I know those folks are working on Tips only, our commissary just started allowing you take your own cart to your car before this year the only way to get your groceries was to let them push it to your car or carry your own bags. Even though the commissary here allows you to take a cart to your car yourself if you like I never see many people doing it, we've gotten so used to having the baggers take our bags and load them into our car for us, it's very nice.

I know at Publix grocery stores they still ask if you want them to take the carts to your car and load it for you, and they aren't permitted to except tips, so it's a nice service for those who want or need the help.

As far as if someone brings grocery bags or Amazon boxes or something like that to your room I think a tip just depends on how much they had to bring up and how heavy the packages are, so like $5-10 should be fine for most things.

I was so shocked when the person delivering 3 Amazon boxes (two were Prime Pantry ones, so not exactly small) wouldn't take my tip!
