Here is another tipping question. I'm certain this has been asked before, but couldn't find it. When arriving at HRH the person taking the bags into the hotel gets tipped. After checking in at the desk, you tip the person taking the bags from the desk up to our room. Do you tip each of them $2.00 per bag? How about the concierge, if you are using him/her daily, do you give them something? I think I remember seeing a tip for the person cleaning the room daily and the turndown person at night? I want to be sure I have everything all set and ready to go. Thanks! If I forgot anything, please let me know.

We've always tipped $1/bag for the person who brought the bags into the hotel and the same for the person who brings them up to the room. There are 6 of us, though, so they earn plenty of money. We tip $1/person per day for the maid. I leave a little for the turn-down person, but not nearly as much as the maid since they don't do as much. I'm not sure about the concierge. When we've stayed at club level we don't since I figure that help/advice is part of their job and something that I'm paying extra for, but if you're talking about the regular hotel concierge I thing they get tipped, but don't know how much.

Ditto what Tigger&Belle said above on tipping bellmen and housekeeping.

As far as the concierge goes, we frequented the club lounge for hours each night and received really great service. I gave the girl $5 each day and for some reason the "bar" never seemed to shut down for us each night - LOL.

Same here Lou, with all of above.
BTW, I hate tipping the bellmen tice. When did this all start? it used to be only one Bellperson took your stuff out of the car and up to the room. I just won't do it any more. I take my stuff into the hotel then have the bellman bring it up to the room.

CPM, I totally agree about tipping twice. WDW does it, too, and it gets a bit excessive. This trip I'm going to see how much luggage we have and then I might just cart it up to the room ourselves. We can look like the family on Rat Race. lol In the past we've needed to bring our cooler (usually the plug-in one) inside instead of leaving it in the hot van, but this time I'm not buying perishables until after we check in. I'm really not super stingy with my money, but may try this out when we're checking in, especially if I think we can use our wheeled suitcases for a lot of the stuff.

CPM, when you pull up to the hotel do they automatically come over to take your luggage. Can you just tell them you would rather take care of it yourself. We probably won't have many ourselves, maybe 2. I agree with you about the tipping here and tipping there. It's a nice service if you can't handle the bags yourself and want help, but why so many people?

Yes, they jump right on you unless it's busy. depending on how much stuff we have i either just get out of the car and say we're all set or park the car and walk the stuff up. we all have rolling suitcases, so it's not that big a deal. It is uncomfortable saying that you don't need thier help. I did ask about it once and they said they get a lot of complaints about it and were maybe going to do away with teh two tier system. I think we should all write about it on our comment cards, I do every time.

I only tip the one that brings the bags to the room. Call me a cheapskate - it's ridiculous to spend $10 just to get your bags to the room!
