We're leaving tomorrow and I can't seem to figure out how to search, so would someone let me know if we should tip the Magical Express driver? Thanks a bunch.

If he helps you with any bags, it would be customary to tip $1-2 perbag, $5 for any bag over 50 pounds.

If he does nothing for you except drive, then IMHO tipping is not necessary. Some of teh DME drivers have been known to tell passengers stories, point out attractions, whatever, and in that case if you feel he's gone above just driving, it would be a nice gesture to tip $1-2 per family--not person. You shouldn't feel obligated to tip unless they helpw ith bags though. And if they are agressive about getting a tip, I wouldn't tip at all.

Thanks for that information, Anne. This is our first time using ME so we're newbies at it. We will have one carry on. I suppose we will need to have the driver put that in the luggage compartment of the bus, won't we?

Depends on the size. If you can hold it on your lap, or if it fits under YOUR seat (as opposed to the airlines' "the seat in front of you" requirement) then you can bring it into the passenger compartment. If it would need its own seat, it'll have to go under the bus.

You tip at least a $1.00 per bag that he/she handles.

On our way back the airport the driver made a little announcement about each area of the airport and then said "My name is Oscar and I appreciate gratuities" and there was a sign on the window stating the same thing. He personally didn't touch a bag, the bell service at the resort put the luggage on and there was a guy at the airport that took it off. I don't remember seeing a sign on the windows on the way to the resort.

We just used ME while there during Thanksgiving Week. Both of our busses
had little signs in the front window saying Gratuities are permitted. There was
also a sign with our drivers name. Both drivers also introduced themselves, gave us information along the ride, and both put Luggage on the bus as well as off and greated us going on and off the bus. Our drivers never mention gratuities though. We did tip them. I had read in Birnbaums book also
$1. - $2. per piece of luggage. That's what I went by.
