Tipping your wedding coordinator

I know this has been covered several times, but I'm still not sure I've got it straight. I know the wedding coordinator cannot accept cash, but does this include a gift card or Amex gift check? I can't imagine buying a gift for someone I won't meet until the day of my wedding. I'm stumped at what to get people I've known my whole life. So, are gift cards considered money, or gifts?

Only cash is not allowed. Gift cards, and disney dollars are fine. I'm planning on doing the visa gift card myself.
